Industrial Grade Bench Scale, 400 lb (DWP-440)

Where do I begin to say how poorly designed and manufactured this product is? Let's just start off that the product description is WRONG - the PRODUCT is NOT 29" x 14" x 6.5" - that is the PACKAGING. The PRODUCT, fully assembled, is really 24.25" long x 11.875" wide x 31.5" in height (this is measure WITH the serial connector attached to the back of the unit which causes the product to need even more space). The PLATFORM is 15.75" x 11.825" which is (basically) the ONLY measurement that is important but is NOT what is in the product description. Those dimensions are in the questions section (which not everyone looks at, frankly because that is what a good product description is for).Packaging:1. Barely made it to me in one piece before the corner of the box broke open.2. There was an oily residue on the feet of the scale which reacted to the styrofoam packing causing the feet to be caked in styrofoam which I cannot get off them - therefore the scale will not balance correctly and the feet need to be replaced.Setup/Design:1. Instructions included on how to use the scale (even though they are poorly worded, typical Chinese made instructions. There are NO instructions on how to assemble the scale.2. There are four screws to hold the plate at the top of the post on. a. They need to be slightly longer (because of "b" below). b. There needs to be eight (and not four) washers because the screws are too small to be used without the washers but the nuts on the bottom could really use washers too.3. The post is held in by three screws: a. They stick out too far and are just asking to be caught on something. b. The post should have holes drilled into it for the screws to recess inside of.4. The wire that goes through the post could easily be caught on the sharp edge of the post which would expose the wiring inside.5. The wire barely fits in the channel of the plastic piece at the top of the post.6. Did I mention there were NO ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS?7. The blue foam piece that goes between the platform and base came with a hole in it. Speaks volumes for quality control.I would AVOID this product. It is not what you would expect and it would make more sense to purchase a more expensive product that is made with a higher level of quality and design.

4-stars only because the wires don't fit through the hole in the head-unit mount. And even though it didn't come with assembly instructions, it was easy to put together. All you really need is the picture of it assembled, the rest is self-explanatory. While I do wish the platform was a little bigger (I did know the dimensions before I bought it) I am so happy with the price that I really don't care that much. We bought this to weigh bags for our laundry service and it is working well. It was also $400 cheaper than the ones offered by Uline and Norton Laundry Supply.

I would have given a higher rating had they not failed to indicate you have to disassemble the Meter Plug to feed it through the pipe into the Meter. All they had to do was punch a rectangular hole just over the Plug size. A second thing that would be a very good improvement is a pair of clamps or screws to fasten the standing pipe to the base and to the Meter Mount to make if far more rigid for use. As is I'm not finding the error they claim yet. 2.2 pound solder bars all read 2.2 pounds and 25 from a box weigh 55 pounds. A very nice scale for my needs.

Easy to set up and use. The base is not as sturdy as it should be for a large scale and the plate does tend to move around when a large box is placed on the scale.

It works great. It is extremely accurate.

Setup was easy. Haven't had to calibrate yet. So far so good
