Godsend in current heatwave
We live in a modern flat in London with triple glazed windows. Great for during Winter and we've never had to pay for heating. However, on warmer days the flat retains all heat and ends up hotter than outside with no air flow. Currently with the heatwave the temperature has been over 30 degrees and we've been melting in the flat, unable to sleep during the hot nights. We decided we'd had enough and would invest in a portable air conditioner. We did our research and decided to go with Meaco. Very reasonably priced when you start comparing with others on the market. Also, on the smaller and lighter side when comparing to other units which can be around/over 30kgs. This unit is 23kgs and on wheels so it's easy to push around. We've been moving it from bedroom to living room depending on where we want the AC running. With Amazon the unit arrived in 2 days! Amazing. So easy to set up. We didn't have to read any instructions and had it set up in minutes. It immediately starts to cool the room down. Unexpectedly came with a free window kit compatible with our windows which open inwards. These cost about 20 pounds on Amazon so saved us that additional cost. But in all honesty we were so keen to get started we used the AC without the window seal and it still works fantastically to cool down our bedroom. If you can't be bothered with the faff of the window seal kit don't worry as it still works well! I know some have mentioned that the unit is noisy but all I can say to that is what do you expect from an AC unit. It's going to of course make some noise. We haven't found this to be a problem and we easily can fall asleep to it.My boyfriend and I are ecstatic with our purchase. The rest of the UK will be sweltering over the next week and we'll be relaxing calmly in the cool provided by Maeco.10/10 would recommend.

As described
Bit the bullet and invested out of season, came into its own last summer. Is a bit too noisey to keep on in the bedroom at night but certainly cools the room down. Easily moved around, good for money for occasional summer use

Quiet chilling especially on low fan speed
The air con is quite good amazingly quieter than my last 10 year old one cools my bed room in around 3 hours bearing in mind it faces the sun most of the day and is normally 26 degrees when is put on , room size around 5 X 6 meters , it is a tad heavy and some more thought could have gone in to the shallow recesses ment as lifting holds , it is on wheels so movable ,but it can't carry its self up stairs lol . I would recommend

Don’t buy if in UK
Works well but is loud, be weary if you’re a UK buyer that the window duct fittings are useless. Does nobody make these fittings for top opening or side opening windows? It seems they’re built for sliding windows only.

This is going to be so welcome in the hotter weather
We purchased this as we have a Meaco Zambezi dehumidifier which I rate very highly. I'm going to vent this via our air vent in the lounge ,which is for venting our front room because we have a log burner. I purchased a reducer collar so that should work well.Yes, it's slightly noisy but it's better than some. I don'y think you'll get a silent one owing to the fan and the compressor functions in an air conditioner. This moves a lot of air though, even the fan settings push out a very noticeable air flow into the room. We had a cooling fan system last year but I don't like the idea of damp air being circulated onto furniture and walls etc. Also with water air coolers they only get to a certain point where they can't actually cool the air anymore they just add to the humidity. The build of this Meaco air conditioner is very good and the functions work well on it. Now bring on the hot weather outside !!! :)

Beware: Loud, smells of glue, doesn’t cool
I’m baffled by the positive reviews. Has a motor sound that is nearly intolerable, like a really old refrigerator motor thats about to blow out, except louder. Decibels are ranging from 55-60, which is very close to unsafe. Doesn’t cool a bedroom at all. The smell is probably the worst part. It’s like a poisonous glue smell and makes you feel ill. It gets worse and worse as you run it. My entire house smells of glue. I’m stunned by how poor this product is vs the reviews online and on Amazon. Having a hard time understanding why anyone would make a product this useless and why anyone would pay hundreds of pounds for it. What am I missing?

A useful bit of equipment
Easy to get going. The hose is large and awkward but can jam in window. I have the 1000 and it seems quite efficient in my bedroom of 22m2. I have just put it on for 1 to2 hours in the evening to cool down for bedtime. I find it cools about 2 degrees in that time. But a plus is that it freshens the air so makes a much more acceptable environment for sleeping.
