Jury is still out, in the longevity of this product so I will update the BUT!!!!!!
Like and dislike! Well just a short review to caution others interested in this Backlit Keyboard.#1 and most important is that the box this keyboard comes in and where the only very few instructions are printed on (of course, it's made in CHINA!!!!) states that the the lettering and numerals etc., are laser etched and fade proof, blah, blah, blah!! They fail to mention that the black paint or whatever the heck the keys are colored with is already rubbing off after only less than 2 (Two) weeks of intermittent use!!!!! The light is starting to shine through these cracks in the paint on at least 4 (four) keys already , and OH! the "A" "laser etched" button is also starting to wear away already too. (so much for fade proof "laser etched" lettering?) I guess. I still expected better quality, even though it's "MADE IN CHINA" like just about everything else nowadays.BTW - It lights up beautiful and has cool lighting (only 1 mode)! All I needed and all I ever wanted was a backlit keyboard, but found out that most if not all are only expensive Gaming Keyboards with software and and the other techy nonsense that I will Never, Ever Use, so I had to settle for this cheapo keyboard which I loved at first (so I tossed the box and packaging "of course") only to now find that the black paint is chipping off the keys themselves and not only do you have the letters that are backlit, but the chipped paint areas too. Less than two weeks of mild intermittent use folks. Hey Only $23. Try it you might like it. Oh, there is a teeeeeeeny, weeeeeny itsy bitsy, tiny (did I say TINY) ON/OFF - (SLIDE) switch for the backlight. It is on the Far side, top right outer edge of the keyboard. It took a while to locate it and NO it' s not in the very few instructions on the "MADE IN CHINA" box. The backlight only seems to shut off when you "ShutDown" the computer. All other modes it stays on including Sleep, and Lock mode etc. (On my BB Acer Computer, that is!) So you might find yourself feeling around for that Teeeeny, Weeeeny, Tiny slide switch quite often or for a lousy $23 just leave it on as a night light.UPDATE: Now about 4 weeks using this Keyboard and the black paint on the keyboard buttons has worn off even further on more buttons. You can see the lights coming not only through the intended letters and numerals, but also around some of the letters through the black paint wear is wearing off. Hope I explained that clearly enough to understand. It's like I rubbed some of the paint off the keys with sandpaper and it gets worse as I use this keyboard. It hasn't effected my typing at all yet and It still types fine and I like the feel of the typing. Now the letter (A) looks like a blob with the black paint rubbed of on that key the most for some reason. Again the colors are kind of cool as in the photo and it is easy to turn the lights on and off now that I got used to the tiny switch. Again, I am disappointed with the cheap paint on the keyboard, but it does it job and lights on nicely. Note: You will most likely be using the lights even in the daytime, because the keys letters, etc., are just clear in contrast to the black key paint so the light can shine through and you cannot make out the key too well unless the light in on and then it's perfect. We shall see how it holds up in the future. For the cheap price for this keyboard, I have to say it was worth the price. The letters on my new desktop computer keyboard that came with the computer, only lasted about a year when some of the painted white lettering started wearing off and I had no letters at all on some of the keys. All I wanted was a lighted keyboard so I can work at night it this fits the bill. Most of the other lighted keyboards that I could find on the internet were like $80 - $200. They were gaming keyboards with software etc., which I had zero use for. Not many keyboards out there that are just backlighted for the one purpose of typing in the dark. Anyway, this will be my last review, because you know what the situation is and it will only get worse with time, so will shall see if I can get two years out of it. I will be satisfied. Good LuckALL THAT SAID THOUGH, It might be the single most useful and appreciated investment I have made in a while. What a welcome pleasure to not have to fumble in the dark looking for the letters and most importantly the numerals and special keys, even with the halogenbdesk lamp on Ibstill had to lift up the keyboard and flip it towards the lamp constantlt at night. Oh Yes, Another BTW Moment I have to inform you about!!! Even in the daytime you will more than likely have to keep the backlight "ON", because the lettering on the keys is extremely DULL, yes you have to squint and lower your head (I guess it has something to do with letting the light pass through the key letters and symbols) so the letters are not actually painted white. So much for my short review, right.I also always have to give a " shout out" to AMAZON. They are by a wide margin the absolute most "AMAZ-ING" online retailer, distributer outlet on the planet and of course their Customer Service and Purchasing/Shipping, Return/Exchange Policy cannot be beat. I think I'm done now.Thank you AMAZON.

Really nice looking.
I can't speak about how long-lasting it is, because I got it a couple days ago, but it works flawlessly with my macbook pro. A couple notes (that don't detract from my 5 star ratings, but still) - I was surprised that you can't turn off or even dim the backlight; it's always on if keyboard is plugged in. Doesn't make any difference, really; it's not like they're using any noticeable amount of energy, and probably won't burn out for decades. OK, one quite weird thing for me the \ key is where I expect the Enter key to be; the Enter key is one space to the right. I looked at some others online after receiving this, and indeed some keyboards here and there do do this. I remapped the \ key on mac using Karabiner, problem solved for me...

Nite Lite Keyboard
I debated with myself on buying this, because I didn't really need a keyboard, but it seemed like such a good idea to have something that you can see at night without turning on extra light just to type in a password or email, But I have been pleased that I did buy, because I have really enjoyed having it and it looks so cool. There is nothing to load or worry about, just plugged it in and it works. Not much instructions but just to let you know, there is a tiny little itty-bitty button on the right hand side on the top edge, thats hard to notice, that will allow you to turn the lights off if you don't want them on. The keyboard turns off by itself when you shut the desktop off.

Restrain expectations.
Take the workings of a modest, inexpensive (squishy-keyed, low-end) USB keyboard. Add a fixed, rainbow-colored backlight. What you now have is this keyboard. Pretty. Don't expect it to be anything more. The backlight can be turned off. (Find the little slide switch at the right upper edge of the keyboard.) The switch seems a bit fragile. I wouldn't expect it to survive many on-off cycles but have not tested it to failure. If one is a visual typist, the keyboard is difficult to use with the backlight off.I'm using the keyboard in an application where I needed a backlit keyboard (for visibility) but is subject to contaminants (so, I expect a limited keyboard lifespan anyway). Works perfectly well in this application.

OK for an inexpensive backlit keyboard
I ordered this keyboard because I wanted to have one that was backlit with pretty colors. The keyboard arrived today and it's OK. It definitely checks the box of being pretty and really a "show piece". However, the back-lighting is more pronounced around the keys vs. on the keys themselves and the letters/numbers/symbols aren't as glowing as I'd hoped for. I included a picture to illustrate. Also, as with the other reviews, the switch to turn the back-light off and on is very small and hard to maneuver. I would recommend it more as a conversation piece vs. a serious keyboard.

Would be nice to see which key is which.
Would be nice to have controls like volume, screen brightness, etc. on the keyboard. And the short enter key and the repositioned backslash trips me up every time!ETA: After 6 months of using this keyboard I've gotten plenty used to the weird key placement.... which is good because the key printing is completely coming off!! This is a major inconvenience as my children use the keyboard for their school work and can't type as well as I can- knowing which key is which is sort of a big deal. I gave this four stars at first but had to drop it to one. There's no good reason I should have to replace my keyboard every 6 months!!!
