Works as well as any other sprayer at that price point I have ever used

Just finished using this to spray just over 9 gallons of clear oil based sealer on a new cedar fence. Whole project took less than 2 hours to do my side and neighbor's side of fence. I did not know how well this would work with oil based, many say they don't recommend using them, this didn't say one way or the other. For a fence, this worked Great. You do have to keep it pumped up but that's not surprising. It includes 3 tips, I used the blue one based on information on the box. I can understand why some may have puddling on a deck surface that would need brushed out but on a vertical surface and clear (transparent) stain/sealer, any runs just soaked in. I do think if it was a colored stain, it may have needed some brush work, but still would have worked well. For my needs, 5 stars.

Fair price works well

I never write product reviews, but after my experience with this pump I couldn't help myself. I only used it 4 times before it failed. I used it only to spray sealer on my patio pavers after a power wash and re-sand with a total area between 2 locations of 650 sq. ft. The first 2 times, it worked great on my fire pit pavers in the backyard after applying 2 coats on two separate occasions. After each use, cleaned it then set it aside. Then, the third time I used it, I went to do the same with my front walkway and approach patio. It started working fine, and then it stopped spraying with any pressure. I took it all apart, made sure the lines were clean, pump was clean...ended up limping through finishing the first coat with it which took way longer than it should have. Since I had to apply a final coat for the 4th time later, I once again cleaned it and set it aside hoping it would work as it had prior. Then the fun happened... On the 4th time, it started spraying some, and then just flat out refused to do anything but dribble out. I took everything apart again, replaced the nozzle, cleaned the hoses, pump, and nothing I did worked after I retried it. To make my horrid experience even better, the black arm to apply pressure to the wand broke. I ended up dumping out the sealer on the pavers, and finishing the job with a brush. After this, I was completely irritated and threw the pump in my trash bin where it belongs. Don't expect any great long term results with this pump, I would never recommend it to anyone I know, nor would I purchase another one again.

I tried several sprayers available at Lowes, HomeDepot, and Wal-Mart to spray a waterproof uv protection stain on a new fence with no luck (Thompsons clear water proof UV). None of them worked. I googled and found this one, Chapin, for deck/fence sealants. GREAT. I just wiggled the spray tip in gasoline between tank fills, and it did 300 feet of 10 foot board on board privacy fence with ease. Save yourself the frustration I encountered with others, even the one a Lowes that states on the box "deck and fence sealant" which did not work with sealant.

I bought this one gallon sprayer and used Thompson's Clear Sealer on my deck. IT SUCKED! THE SPRAY NOZZLES kept I guess clogging up. It runs out of pressure very quick. I would not buy again!!!!

I read a lot of reviews regarding different sprayers and I had no idea there were so many types based on the chemicals you are using. I just needed a pump sprayer to brighten/clean my deck and nothing more. This Chapin pump sprayer did just that. I read the Chapin reviews and was very surprised on all the negative reviews because I hear this was a good pump for what I needed. Then I noticed the majority of the negative reviews were written when the consumer used the sprayer for staining. Look, I get it. One the sprayer itself it states it can be used for stain, sealer, and wash, but who uses a pump sprayer for full stain?! I cannot vouch for the negative reviews because I would not try staining with anything under $30. The have professional sprayers for a reason. Like I said, I purchased this to wash my deck and it worked terrific. I have a pergola as pergola as well (12'x20') and I was able to spray everything under 30 minutes. The wand has way more power than I expected (I was thinking round-up sprayers) and I only had to re-pump every five (5) minutes or so. It came with three (3) nozzles and I used only the one (red cap) and it was perfection. I will be using this to wash my fence later this year. I believe this pump sprayer will last for years. It seems very durable, but again, I will not be staining or sealing. If you are just washing your deck, this pump sprayer will be able to do everything you need it to do with no hassles and will last for years to come. I cannot say the same about the staining, but washing I give it five (5) stars!

Personally.. I LOVE IT !!! My intent for purchasing, wasnt just for "stain" as I am a brush only type person, when it comes to that, but have been using it to SPRAY EVERYTHING ELSE LOL. Sprayed down walls and ceilings to hand scrub, used on garden, sprayed down ext. of house and bunkhouse to get rid of black mold (non corrosive cleaner). Next will come tombstone cleaning (water) @ the family cemetery.. Excellent buy ! No clogging of tips thus far, nice assortment of them, included, & great pressure once pumped up. Do BE CAREFUL as NOTED.. It does build up air pressure, very well & back it off slowly & let it do it on its own, just to be safe !

Worked great to spray the light weight runny Rust Check inside the frame and body panels of my old Jeep. Nice to have interchangeable nozzles but be careful how much you pump it up as the plastic threaded fitting are not strong enough and the one at the bottle will blow off.

Please don't buy this item. We used it for the first time today. It started out ok but after a few sprays the hose exploded in two parts spraying sealant all over my face, in my eyes and mouth and all over my clothes. It destroyed my eye glasses. The hose was torn in two places. I have told Amazon this needs to be removed from their inventory for safety reasons. I am now out a pair of eye glasses to the tune of $350 as I can't get the sealant off my lenses. I hope Amazon will stand behind this product they are endorsing and compensate me for my eye glasses. Worse thing is my eyes. They have been rinsed repeatedly with both warm water and saline and they are still burning. My clothes are ruined.

This product is WAY better than the $25 one. First, the wand is adjustable. This means that the tip can be changed. Also three nozzle tips are included for your needs. If you try to buy these tips separately, it costs you $20. Finally, the hose is soft and it is better for storage.
