X-Seed Moisture Boost Plus Bermuda Grass Lawn Seed, 3-Pound

I used this brand to start my lawn "from scratch" and I must say that I took a gamble on this brand knowing how popular Scott's brand was. However going on the reviews, I said "what the hell, it's worth a shot". I prepared the ground as recommended on the pouch, added the miracle grow lawn fertilizer the day before...and then scattered the seeds. I fell short in the coverage (I recommend buying twice as much as they recommend to shorten the time lapse for the grass to spread and fill in), so I ended up buying some no name brand in my local agri store and finished up the remaining bare ground. I saw very little growth in the first week and a half and became very annoyed and impatient with myself for going down this path. Luckily it later rained for a week constantly and by the middle of the spell, I started seeing growth in the area that was covered by the xseed brand. Very little grew in the no name brand, and as a matter of fact I saw a lot more weed growth in that said area, which makes me think that the xseed screens their product from unwanted grasses. I plan to buy more xseed and redo the crappy section that was done with the no name brand and if i have extra, re-scatter some more in the areas that has grown to thicken up the patches. Long story short...Buy This Brand! I recommend it :)

I should of read the reviews more carefully, Nothing grew... followed directions and nothing. Stay clear of this stuff, likely the whole batch was left in a hot warehouse to die, that's why its being sold here and now.

This is a very different variety of Bermuda Grass than the normal kind. It doesn't put out any runners or vines. It is just a single blade of grass that comes up. It has been months since I planted with this seed and it doesn't match my original Bermuda grass at all. In some areas, my original Bermuda grass has thankfully overtaken this single blade grass I planted. But I have a large area in my backyard that is still this X-Seed Bermuda grass. Even though this grass seed had a high percentage of germination and didn't need a lot of watering, I regret buying it because it is not at all the type of Bermuda grass I expected. I'll have to buy some sod grass this coming spring to get rid of it. I don't know what kind of Bermuda grass this is or what kind I have, but I suggest that you study this carefully before you buy it. I do know it is far different than any Bermuda grass I've ever seen in my long life. I've always purchased sod grass in the past and this is the first and last grass seed I'll ever purchase.

I've been ordering Bermuda grass seed from Outside Pride, but not anymore. I'm on my second bag and I actually prefer this to the "designer" seed. The coating really helps to lock in water when you've been a little lax with your watering schedule.The only criticism I have is with the packaging. The bag should definitely be resealable, since I don't use the entire thing at one time. It's less convenient to keep the grass bag in a second ziplock bag.

I live in Mali, West Africa. Our soil is very poor. We have no topsoil. I basically used landfill as topsoil, threw down the seed by hand, covered it with a thin layer of wood chips and watered it twice per day. This seed germinated in 6-7 days in 100+ temperatures. Love this seed!

I recommend this seed as long as you aerate and fertilize. The only weird thing was that one bag of seed was white and one was green and only the greens ones grew. The white never sprouted (they were planted about a month apart).

The seeds worked perfectly but I had one major problem and that was the attack of the birds....first bag of bermuda seeds turned out to be expensive bird see, the second bag I learned to bird-proof and the seeds grew up just fine

I've bought seed for 16 years now and just tried X-Seed this year 2013. Preparation is minimal and the seeds are ready to provide the grass in those sunny areas. Just keep it watered well for the first 2 weeks! I recommend this seed and will purchase in the future ~ Dallas, Texas
