I recently bough a new grater that works too well… it’s very sharp, and my poor poor hand kept getting cut no matter how careful I tried to be. This amazing little contraption is my hand’s saving grace!! When reading other reviews, it seemed like it might not work all that well, but I have had no trouble with it. I have mostly just used it on carrots so far, but I imagine most other veggies will be easier to handle, since most are generally softer than carrots! … but it grips the carrots perfectly well… the inner, sharp protrusions do a great job keeping the carrots gripped. And to help steady them while they are very long, I just use my index finger to help keep it steady. And it even does a great job of gripping the carrot when it’s turned into a little, itty bitty stump! Honestly, I have found it super easy to use, totally worth the money spent on it. It keeps my hands safe and I can grate my carrots with no worries now. It’s great. And cleaning it is super easy, since it’s metal, and I can just throw it in the dishwasher. I rinse it first to get any carrot bits off and then into the washer it goes. Easy peasy. HIGHLY recommend!

It is a little cumbersome for grating cheese and slippery when trying to hold onions (in fairness it's probably my fault for not making sure the onions are secure in the grippers), but ALL fingers are protected enough that I can glance at my laptop with confidence while slicing. Because it is stainless steel it will last a very long time, far outliving the two plastic ones I have. Cleanup is very easy, just a little soap and water and maybe a brush to remove soft foods from the gripper holes. Overall, I am really pleased with this product and can finally stop searching for an effective finger guard.

Pros: my fingers are protected and it's dishwasher-safe Cons: it's a pain to use. I can't figure out how I'm supposed to hold it. The sides continually poke into my skin as I use it, and I have to keep adjusting the food I'm trying to grate. Overall, I will keep it because I don't like bleeding, but it's not the miracle tool I was hoping for.

Absolutely works as described. I grated a couple rectangular pieces of gruyere (~3"x.5"x1") that normally would've been snack chunks instead of grating (preferred use) but got them down to ~1/2inch square chunks, which are better by far for snacking too. Excellent product.

The Finger Guard for Cutting seemed like it would most helpful for seniors to both hold the veg or cheese and protect against scraps. While it does protect, it is very difficult to hold, you will lose at least an inch of food because to have it stay in the "teeth" and anyone with any sort of hand strength issues should look elsewhere.

don't waste your money on this. I bought it to use on an old fashioned box grater -- specifically for carrots. It doesn't have much grip. Yes, better than going barehanded and risking cuts, but not much. I'm using my food processor with the grating blade now for carrots, hard cheese, etc., and it is SO much better. and not risk of taking off part of my fingers.

Our family loves the Safegrate! It's saved us from scraping or cutting ourselves many times when grating. I feel confident knowing that we can easily grate foods and that my kids can also do this without any mishaps. Every kitchen should have one!

Mega gut. Schützt die Finger und hält gut das Schnittgut fest. Der Preis ist hoch. Trotz des hohen Preises würde ich es wieder kaufen. Wobei ich glaube, dass es ewig halten wird.

This tool provides effective protection for fingers when grating vegetables and works as described. I’m not someone who uses many kitchen gadgets, but I find this useful for larger jobs when working quickly. Compact in size, it doesn’t take up unnecessary space.
