How long does the blade last?

Hi I have change my blade twice since I have had my machine which is coming up to a year

Does this blad work on wood

It is made to work on wood up to 2mm thick. It is mainly for soft wood like balsa or bass. I haven't tried it on anything harder but I see no reason why it won't cut ply or anything else. it is just a matter of the number of times it goes over it.
