Review of ESS Eyewear CDI Polarized Mirror Gray Glasses 740-0529I ordered these to have eye protection while on duty and at the range. This is replacing an older pair that I can no longer find replacement lenses for. My old ones would still be going had I not scratched the lens. I hope these last at least 12 years like my old ones have. I like that these have polarized lenses. However, I do wish that these came with additional clear shooting lenses like my old ones did. The fit is okay. Medium is all they had when I ordered these. When I go to the ESS store on Amazon, all I find offered are essential oils. The case is a hard case that has hooks for a visor and one for clipping onto a backpack or whatever. There is NO strap included, no lens cleaning cloth either. I found the case to be too bulky. It seems sturdy. As one reviewer mentioned, the “Polarized” is emblazoned on the bottom of the left lens. If I look down and to the left, I can see some distortion that this causes, but it mostly does not bother me. I feel that these are overpriced.

Combat proven sunglass system. Can change lenes fast. Used these in Iraq. Only sunglasses I will ever own.

The polarization works great. Solid product.

I have really enjoyed this product from ESS, I use their goggles at work everyday and I have another pair of sunglasses I use at the range. The CDI's are nice and lenses come out very easy for cleaning and to swap them with another set.

I have a set of ESS Rollbars for shooting, but wanted a little more robust set for work. I do pest control and these have withstood the chemicals I spray so far. I am very happy with these, lenses are very good.

I'm fairly small - a lot of sunglasses I've tried are too big for me - so I figured these would be about right, since they say they're a medium fit. But they're actually WAY too small, and a strange shape to boot. The arms strongly curve instead of being straight, as for someone with a very small head. The nosepiece is very awkward as well, only contacting my nose in one place (which happens to be right at the spot where you pinch it to slow down a nosebleed, making it throb while wearing them) and riding high. It's actually kind of painful to wear them for more than a minute or so at a time; I can't imagine they would fit anyone bigger, even though their website claims it's a universal size.So I had to return them, which is a shame because the lens quality is great. Although they say it only transmits 9% of light, it's not too dark for moderately low-light situations, and of course it's easy to swap out lenses. There are other similar ones available (like Native, which I'm going to try next), but they're more difficult to change lenses, and of course not mil spec either (although they do have Z87).So if you have a short head (front to back) and a nose that's very high and narrow in the middle, these might be great for you. If not, you'd be better off elsewhere.

I love the ESS CDI sunglasses and have been wearing them since I was in the military from 2008-12. I have since left the military but still wear the ESS CID sunglasses. They have easy interchangable lenses; different color lenses, and very durable frames (got run over by car and only lenses broke; frame stayed in one piece); lost a pair too, but have since purchased a 2nd pair to keep in my car and one for every-day use. I highly recommend.

Have used this brand for 10 years, including all 8 years in the Army. Well worth the money. Good quality for the price and are resilient!
