Does the job
There are really not that many belts of this type out there for one to be choosy. But this one is nice quality, holds the katana very well, and will last for years. It is way better than using a standard belt. Whatever level you are at this will help with your practice.Now there are a zillion ways to tie this. Some are fancy knots and some are simple. I opted for simple and functional since I am not the best at knots. At least it allows the option to be versatile.So on to the price. 35.00 and 10 shipping. I think the 10 shipping is high and could have been shipped from California cheaper ways. As for the 35.00...well, to me this is a specialty item. It is not something many would want and has a limited market. So yeah...to me and for how it helps...I say 35 is fine.If you are cutting bottles in the back yard or practicing in the dojo. This obi will work for you. and work well.

Thing of Beauty
I'm not going to deny it. I love putting this thing on. It puts me in the zone regardless of my previous mood. I use the obi over an Aikido jacket for daily katana practice at home and it works perfectly. It's so comfortable it disappears in use. With a proper knot and wrap, it does not move or slip. It's not the cheapest option out there, but the Japanese quality is impeccable and I expect it to last for many years. It's both beautiful and functional.

This Obi made very well. Very impressed with the craftsmanship and the material is excellent quality. I will be purchasing more obi’s from this company. I normally get my supplies and equipment from a shop in Kyoto but I think I’ll be making more purchases with this company because it’s closer to me and I don’t have to wait two months for my items to arrive. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Don't cheap out on your obi
Tried to get by with a cheaper obi when I started Iaido. "I'm not paying that much for a belt", I said.Well, here we are. Everyone at the club uses one of these. And there's a reason for it. It provides good support, and it looks good. I'm considering getting another in a different color.
