Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather Liquid

Good stuff, have used it for nearly 20 years in very harsh winter climates. Always come back to it. This was my first time buying colored Nikwax, always used neutral. The brown dye in didn't seem to do anything, literally could tell no difference between this and neutral.

I have tried many waxes and polishes in the past and I've always been disappointed with the results. This stuff really works. I have a pair of ecco walking shoes that have been around the world with me AND LOOK LIKE IT. After a good cleaning, while still damp, I applied the Nikwax. Then I cleaned them again with a damp detailing cloth, applied the Nikwax again, then polished them. While they don't look new (you can't undo scuffs!) they look good. The color is perfect again. And scuffs are like laugh lines--they show character. I only wish I'd thought to take before-and-after photos.

I've been using nikwax leather conditioner and aqueous leather waxes for a decade; we are very pleased. We wear boots quite a bit around here and all our boots remain in excellent condition through a regimen of cleaning and nikwaxing. I don't use the brown or black wax copiously, just a little. However, the clear wax, the aqueous paste and the leather conditioner... these we use liberally. We will remain nikwax users for the foreseeable future.PS: their wash-in and spray-on TX-Direct are also excellent, and Tech Wash

As I said it is easy to apply and makes the shoes look new again. I will see how well it lasts and works.

Good waterproofing, but the applicator was so clogged up after 2-3 uses that I had to tear it off. Makes a mess to apply now, but still works.

This product definitely works.

I would have rated this item with five stars if it was not for two detracting items. First, is the girly man applicator which consists of an open cell foam on the top of the bottle. I am used to footwear waterproofing contained in a bottle and applied with a fabric ball attached by a wire to the bottle cap which allows liberal application, especially in the area were the shoe upper attaches to the sole. Applying the Nikwax product with its foam applicator doesn't allow that feeling of confidence that you have filled in this area sufficiently. In addition, after doing one pair of work boots, the edge of the applicator was noticeably frayed that I am concerned it will not last until all the product is used.Second is, in my opinion, the fact that the product contains brown dye. When I ordered this product, I did not recall an offer of a clear product. When I am waterproofing my work boots and hunting boots, I am not looking to make a fashion statement. This dye, even though the label contains a warning to protect the area where the user is applying the product, ended up on my khaki shorts where the boots were resting when I applied the product. Clear products such as SnoSeal or a Cabelas waterproofer were more forgiving of my sloppy application.Having listed the negatives, my experience with the waterproofing capability of the product was a very positive one. I applied it to my leather, Gortex, steeltoe work boots this weekend and after wearing them in rain and heavy morning dew for three days, my socks were not even damp when I took the boots off at night. And it didn't appear to have been worn off, still sticky, with use. Other waterpoofers used on the same boots did not have the same results.I am impressed. I would recommend the product. Just be careful when applying it.

I used to use Nikwax decades ago when it was indeed a wax. I bought this Nikwax product mainly to darken the leather of my Hanwag hiking boots and it did the job perfectly. The boots (expensive but not Gortex lined) appear to shrug off water well but I'll be sticking with Zamberlan waterproofing cream for my Zamberlan (Latemar) boots.

Didn't realize it was for brown leather when I ordered it, but my shoes are mostly brown so no problem. Doesn't perform anything earth-shaking but seems to do the job, as my feet have stayed dry in high wet grass at the park. Works well with my other Nikwax cleaning kit. Glad I bought it.

It's very easy to use and quick. Recommended to work with Goretex lined boots without affecting breathability - makes it work as it should.

Very to use and is very water repellant.
