Thermacell Lexington Mosquito Repellent Patio Shield Torch, Discontinued by Manufacturer

This thing is really incredible! As soon as we finished setting up our gorgeous patio we sat down and nearly got eaten alive by mosquitos. Being from Southern California where there are almost NO mosquitos, I VOWED to find something that would allow us to continue to enjoy our outdoor space. Enter Thermacell. For the first couple of weeks I thought that maybe the mosquitos just weren't that bad in our area and that the little lantern we turned on each time we went outside was probably not working. And then, last night, my husband and I were outside enjoying some hookah on the patio when he and I both started getting bit. At first we couldn't believe it, as we had turned on the Thermacell lantern just like we had been doing for the last few weeks. I had also just changed the blue pad. Then, I thought to check the butane cartridge. Yep, lo-and-behold, we were out of fuel and the mosquitoes almost IMMEDIATELY came over and began sucking our blood. Without hesitating we ran to the nearest big-box store and bought more cartridges and just like that, the mosquitoes were absolutely gone. Not a single one came over to bite us the rest of the evening. This product works MIRACLES for our small patio space which measures around 14 feet x 9 feet. It is protected on all sides but one which I imagine really helps create a "bubble" where mosquitoes just don't enter. We also notice that there are nearly no flying insects whatsoever when we have the device on. I am SO grateful for this little lantern. Now we can enjoy our patio again almost like I did in SoCal. Now, if we someone can just invent a device to reduce the humidity!

For as much as we have used these, it seems to help with most bugs.

We live in Washington, DC, and have a horrible problem with mosquitoes. We tried this product with the starter packs of butane and pads that come with the lantern which is about 48 hours of use. It just doesn't do the job, we are still swatting away mosquitoes when we are sitting right next to the lantern.

The write up did not explain much about this product. It was way better than expected! With the sturdy steel poles it can be 10 - 58" high. It also comes with a table base and LED lights that run on AAA batteries. Very nice product that works well and looks nice!

They work great as long as its not too windy/

I bought this product (Thermacell Lexington...) at Amazon. The primary function (mosquito repellent) looks work, but the 'light' function didn't. (I tried it many times having the batteries changed). I contacted with the manufacturer's service representative and requested to change with new one. The representative told me to ask Amazon, because they offer free shipping back. I called Amazon and they sent me a new one, saying I don't need to send the old one back! (Thank Amazon). But, unfortunately, the 2nd one didn't work, either! Now, what can I do? I got two of defective product, which I wanted to have one in normal, and really unhappy. I decided not to get tired any more with this! Very disappointed with their quality control.

I love these things. I was amazed at how well the hand held versions worked and decided to give these a shot and they haven't disappointed. Crank them up, wait about 10 minutes and, no flying bugs. There simply aren't any. The lights aren't blinding, but they're adequate. The pads seems to last longer than I would have suspected (I suggest a refill pack though). I haven't used the poles yet, but they're very substantial and the lights are heavy enough so they don't blow over, but are light enough to be easily transported. Very satisfied.
