Protects great without that heavy vinyl feel.
I bought these mattress covers to use on our autistic son's bed. We have tried various mattress protectors over the years with different degrees of success. For our purposes we were looking for a cover that would fit snugly, not have a crinkly plastic feel or sound, wash & dry easily, and was affordable. This product more than exceeded our expectations. Pros: - There is elastic all the way around the cover so that it fits the mattress snugly on all sides. - There isn't a thick vinyl layer with this cover so it is soft & quiet while still protecting the mattress. - I can wash this cover in hot or cold water and tumble dry on low. - The price was perfect for our budget allowing us to get two for rotation. Cons: (As of now, I have not found any. However, I plan to update this review if that changes.) I am so pleased with this product. We also bought one in the crib mattress size for our youngest child. I plan to get more of these as our budget allows. I just wish we had found these sooner! I would recommend these covers to anyone looking to protect their mattresses with a product that is soft and also affordable.

Pleasantly surprised!
I was very skeptical when I first got this in. The product is VERY loud when moved/rubbed, and the terry cloth top isn't exactly soft. The sides are super stretchy and didn't seem like the product would stay put. The product stood up to washing and drying on low heat. There was no bad odor to the product when I opened it. I just now received my mattress, and I was very surprised when I put it on that it fit very well. I slept on it, and the protector didn't move at all, nor did it hinder the fitted sheet in staying on the bed. I also didn't notice any loud sounds when I moved like I was expecting. So far the "protector" part hasn't been tested, but it seems like it will definitely hold up. Overall very happy with the purchase. EDIT 5/27/16: The unit was finally tested on the "protection" factor after a pet accident. I was very pleased to find that my mattress was 100% dry and clean underneath the protector! I have increased my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

Stop looking, this is your forever protector
I've tried many other mattress protectors before sky. They've either sounded like plastic when I move, made me sweat, not fit around my mattress well, torn, washed poorly. .. the one from sky I have on 2 other beds also and the things I like most about the product that keeps my loyalty to the brand, is the all around elastic. It doesn't come off my mattresses even when my 4 year old wrestles and jumps on it. It fits small and large mattresses, mine is 20". It does not feel like you have a protector under your sheets at all nor does it make me sweat. We sleep very comfortably. It washes very well! I wash warm dry low. Of the 3 i have, none have frayed or melted in the dryer or torn from use. It's also great as a barrier to keep the mattress dry from spills and potty accidents. We have been through a lot of life stages with these protectors and have not had to replace the sky ones since we purchased them. Can't say that for a few that were more expensive than these. For the price and durability, it's a steal!

Seems quite well-made.
I wasn't sure I'd be comfortable on this mattress protector. I had a wool pad on top of my latex mattress, then a cotton mattress pad, but I needed a new mattress pad that came down and protected the sides of the mattress, as the elastic in my cotton one was shot. I knew I didn't want the pucker-y, multi-elastic threaded sides like my old one. Those don't seem to last, the elastic gives way. I saved the cotton pad so I can sew it onto an old fitted sheet, get some more use out of it. Anyway, I always get all cotton, wool or even organic blah blah, but this protector looked like it might be a good change. I occasionally drink coffee in bed and I felt I was living dangerously by not having something a bit more spill-resistant on the nice mattress. But I wanted to have all-cotton. This is not all-cotton. It was a compromise. Well, I can't vouch for the spill-repellency, but despite the not-very-cosy, synthetic feel of the terry against my hand, I made up the bed with it and it's fine. It has a different sound from my old all-cotton/wool arrangement. When you get in, it sounds different. I forgot about it after 5 min, got used to the sound and feel very quickly. This cover didn't make me feel hot, as I feared. I will know more in summer how comfortable this mattress protector remains. Because it's thinner, more of a cover than a pad, I can feel the bounce of my latex mattress a little better, which I like. It seems more protective, and I think it's the trade-off of the feel of the terry against my skin, vs. the superior protection and repellency. This pad fits nicely on the mattress, which is about 10 in. thick. It fits snuggly even though it could accommodate a much thicker mattress. Now that I've clearly established my Sound of [Bedding] Music insanity cred, I recommend this protector.

This one's a winner!
These mattress pads are on all of our beds, and I started using this style back when the kids were babies and hung out on our bed in diapers and with sippy cups and random spit-up moments. They're teenagers now, and it protects the mattress from random beverage spills and no telling what else. I buy a mattress because I like the mattress, and this pad is thin and doesn't change the feel of it, and it doesn't make us sleep hot. A bonus is that the terry cloth cover keeps the sheets in place and that's probably my favorite thing about it. It's kind of a pain to wash because you have to rearrange it and spin it about 4 times to get the water out before putting it in the dryer, but that's pretty par for the course with a waterproof mattress pad. The original one on my bed wore out a after about 10 years, but I think that's pretty good and. I was happy to buy another and hope it holds up as long.

This is a good choice for a good mattress protector at this price point
I am very happy with this mattress protector. The terry-cloth topper is soft and is a good barrier against the water-resistant fabric underneath. It cleaned easily in my washing machine, and dried quickly on tumble dry low. I did not experience the "plastic" smell that others have mentioned. It's hard for me to say whether this topper keeps me "cool" as I live in Arizona and nothing keeps me cool in the summer when I sleep, except for multiple fans blowing directly on my head. It stays on well, but it does move around a bit under the fitted sheet. However, every mattress protector I have ever owned did this. This is a good choice for a good mattress protector at this price point. It doesn't offer any extra padding, so if you want that, I suggest looking at something else. This item is strictly a barrier cover.

The best part is the wide stretchy fabric that fits snugly ...
The cover has no padding at all, just a fleece-like surface. When I received it I washed and dried it. It washed very well and there was no shrinking; however, as some reviewers noted, the drier filter was full of lint. The waterproofing was pliable and not noisy. The best part is the wide stretchy fabric that fits snugly on the sides, whitch should accommodate a variety of depths. That is one reason I purchased it. Another reason is, the last cover I had mashed down the loft of the mattress and made the bed too hard. This is an entirely different type of mattress cover than any I’ve ever had, so time will tell. It may wind up being five stars, but since I know so little about it I’m giving it a three.

Second time I’ve purchased this brand and know I will purchase more.
This is the second waterproof cover of this brand that I’ve purchased, with a new baby boy I needed an immediate back up. This one is different from my first purchase- it has a terry cloth top, vs the thinner soft top- I love them both! Most importantly it does not make a sound when you move on them (like most plastic waterproof covers) and is not hot to sleep on, does not let liquid seep onto mattress, goes on with ease yet stays in place on our Lola mattress. Highly recommend this brand and know I will be purchasing more when our baby moves to his own bed.
