Cheap at half the price
The batteries on my 3 year old Apple AirPods no longer last very long, so I thought I would replace them with two sets of earphones - AirPods Pro for general use and something cheaper for listening to audiobooks at night. So I picked up a pair of these for that purpose, to extend the life of my new AirPods. 10 minutes in and I am really glad that I don't need these earphones for general use.The positives - USB C charging, lightweight case, great fit in my ears, actually better than my old 1st gen AirPods. The negatives - sound quality is not great, no very muddy and bassy, with no clarity. I wasn't expecting noise cancelling like other people and that's good because there is no noise cancellation. The case hinge is poor - it opens smoothly to about 20 degrees, then you get resistance for no good reason and have to push harder to open them to 90 degrees. The Apple case is the opposite, you open them to about 30 degrees and then they spring open on their own. The pairing is terrible when compared to AirPods - single pairing mode is what I will be using as I only ever use one earphone at night, but I try it in dual pairing mode for a little while. Paired the right earphone, music played ok, took the left earphone out of the case... nothing from the left. Unpaired and tried pairing the left instead... nothing from the right. I have actually had more pairing issues in 10 minutes with these earphones than in 3 years using Apple AirPods. The loud "Connected" and "Disconnected" alerts are totally unnecessary. I know when they're connected because I can hear sound coming out of them.My main worry was that they might not fit very well, but the fact that they fit VERY well, and that single pairing mode is all I need, means that I won't be returning them.

Good sound in a chunky design
These provide a well balanced sound with punchy bass, natural vocals, clear mids and an energetic but not too bright or sibilant treble. It is of a similar level of quality to that from AirPods in terms of frequency extension and while the sub bass of the half in ear design can't compete with earphone designs the rumble of 3.27 of Hans Zimmer's Why so serious comes across much better than expected. It is a good if unexceptional sound and my Amazon profile's YouTube channel has a recording of the sound you can expect to hear compared to other Bluetooth true wireless stereo buds. The buds are a bit longer and chunkier that AirPods or most of its budget competitor however remain comfortably and securely in both my ears, perhaps assisted by their length and 4.5g (per bud) weight acting as an anchor. For energetic activity however I would choose more securely fitting buds with an earbud that secures them in the ear canal or a hook that secures them in or behind the ear.At least when they do fall out the longer chunky stem means one can easily manoeuvre them back into one's ears without fear of accidentally activating the touch controls. Plus if you wish angle the nozzle so it jams in your ear canal more for improved security and bass response.I found the touch controls a good compromise in that a single short touch changes volume, which is nice and efficient, and a double touch pauses/plays and a triple touch skips though skipping backward first rewinds the current track to the beginning so one needs to go through the backward skip process twice in rapid succession to actually skip backwards a track. I would prefer a double touch skip and long touch play/pause but pretty good.Switching from using both to one by putting one back in the case and vice versa worked seamlessly and I got drop outs starting only through a wall. The cigarette box style case is very compact and can be opened one handed though the lid seems to offer resistance at a point half way through its travel for some reason. I got the buds for £27 with a voucher at which point they offer good value if you are comfortable with their chunkier design geared to comfort and maintaining environmental awareness over security and good if not exceptional sound quality.

Best earbuds on the market!
I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to headphones and earbuds, as I work from home and have them on most of my working day. I was looking for a set of wireless earbuds as wearing headphones for 8+ hours can pinch and cause headaches, plus they are extremely cumbersome and bulky. These beautiful TaoTronics earbuds exceeded all my expectations! Considering they are such great value for money, I was not expecting the incredible quality and sound I received. They look beautiful in their charging case, are well-made and extremely comfortable in my ears. They are as good as (if not better than) other, more expensive brands that cost double the amount, and the sound quality is second to none! They fit so snugly that external sounds can’t be heard, which is perfect for concentration. They’re also ideal for exercise as they stay snugly in the ear and don’t budge, even with high intensity movements.Connecting to Bluetooth is very simple and fast, and they provide the perfect sound when taking meetings, talking on the phone or listing to music/ podcasts. They are extremely lightweight and you barely notice their presence in your ear. Like other TaoTronic products I’ve bought, they have impressed me so much and would be good value at double the price. The performance and build of these earbuds is perfect, I don’t have a bad word to say about them. I highly recommend these wonderful earbuds to anyone, at work or play!
