Update 1
Below is my original review and most of what I said still stands. Customer service from the manufacturer is a joke - i still have not heard back. The second machine I got was actually new and works you just need to prune the water lines(at least my man can troubleshoot things without the menty-b that I am prone to have. As other reviews state it works and gets the job done at a fraction of the price of other machines but do invest in all the good attachments - and a quality portafilter that will pull amazing shots. Once my new portafilter gets in I’ll mention the brand. I am not going to adjust my rating because of the interaction I had with Amazon about replacing the machine since the manufacturer would not get back to me. Amazon lied about the product being in stock and that’s why they couldn’t send a replacement and then it changed to well your item is still within warranty so it’s up to the manufacturer. Be aware, this machine is not that beginner friendly. I have had the worst luck with this machine. The first one I received wouldn’t get hot, I literally sat here waiting 45+ minutes for it to turn to ready. The second one won’t dispense water through the portafilter so how tf am I supposed to pull shots? So unless you have endless amounts of time to spend trouble shooting this machine, don’t waste your time, money, or effort. Oh and don’t get me started on customer service when reaching out to the manufacturer, I reached out 3 times in regards to my first machine as Amazon requested - they still have yet to reach back out about my machine. All in all I’d say this machine isn’t beginner friendly, isn’t easy to use, and is just a huge pain in the ass. I’m so frustrated. All I wanted was to save money and make my coffees at home. When I find a machine worth the money and that hits all the other boxes I’ll happily update my review to mention it.

★☆☆☆☆ Broke after one month, and no response from support
★☆☆☆☆ Broke after one month, and no response from support I really wanted to like this coffee machine. For the first few weeks it made decent coffee and was easy to use. But after only one month of normal, careful use, it stopped working altogether. No warning, no drop, no misuse, it simply died. I contacted the company about the warranty and have yet to receive any reply. A product that fails this quickly is disappointing; silence from customer service makes it worse. For the price, I expected far better on both counts. I would not recommend it.

The worst espresso machine I’ve ever had. Do not buy this unless you want to waste your money
I had a breville bambino express for 3 years before it broke and I needed an espresso machine asap. My husband and I were looking through options and saw that this one was the best option for the price point. It finally came and I was so excited until I used it to try it out and it was absolutely awful. There are so many differences compared to the breville but just to name a few, the portafiller is an awkward shape and size making it more difficult to clean and extract espresso. It’s a manual espresso dial so it doesn’t automatically stop when it reaches your desired shot amount. The milk frother didn’t even warm my milk, let alone steam/ froth it and make it hot. The machine stayed hot literally an hour after I “frothed the milk” etc. Just so awful and you shouldn’t buy this. If you’re looking for quality coffee machines at a low price, this is not your move

De'Longhi Quality Not What It Once Was
I have been using a De'Longhi manual espresso machine for at least the past 20+ years. I enjoy the simplicity of a manual machine - no fancy electronics, but just a good reliable espresso coffee maker. I have replaced the same Retro model 2x and would have been thrilled to get another if they were still made. I thought the Stilosa would be most similar in style as well as performance, and it was reasonably priced. When I set up the Stilosa test run with just water, the boiler properly heated, the light indicator came on and I verified that the release mechanism at the bottom of the water tank was making good contact. However, when I pressed the button to dispense the water, nothing. I re-checked steam valve and relevant settings, etc., but the machine just did not work. The empty coffee filter basket was not even wet. I immediately re-boxed the unit for return and ordered a replacement. I still cannot believe that the second unit did not function either. Seems the De'Longhi brand is no longer rock solid dependable as it once was. Time to explore other options. This was a real surprise and a major disappointment.

Defective Design - Pump Has No Pressure - No Quality Control?
Notice the very first line of the Amazon description: "About this item. Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew" This is an admission that DeLonghi has a KNOWN manufacturing defect - regardless of the amount of coffee, regardless of grind, regardless of tamping, and regardless of which basket I use, our brand new machine can't manage to push water through. A shot takes upwards of two minutes, if it manages to seep out at all. With no portafilter mounted the water can dribble. We followed initial cleaning instructions to the letter, and the first two shots came out okay, if slow and drippy. After the first 3 uses this machine has become unusable - the pump is dying. I've tried everything, because I dread returning and replacing. Clearly SOME samples of this product must work as intended - videos here and elsewhere show nice streams of espresso dutifully pouring through both pressurized and unpressurized baskets. But THE PUMPS IN THIS DEVICE ARE DEFECTIVE and have no quality control. We will have to return this Christmas present and figure out what other espresso machine to buy instead, and it sure won't be a DeLonghi. :( ____________ Update 7/2024: We finally went with a Casabrews machine, under $100 direct from them, and are happy with it so far. (It's very difficult to find a decent espresso machine under $600.) The Casabrews "3700Essential" model is everything we needed; no unnecessary gauges, but it looks great in stainless, makes good espresso etc., has a good capacity tank, is very compact, and even has a pop-up drip tray indicator. Steaming is so-so but times itself perfectly for our Americanos. We sprang for a bottomless portafilter, tamper, and WDT too, which has been another fun learning experience. Update 8/2024: The Casabrews steamer is just fine! In non-steam mode it times out perfectly for medium-heat Americanos. In steamer mode, after I trained myself a bit, I can execute terrifically smooth "microfoam" from regular 1% milk. Buy that machine. Not this. :) Update 5/2025: How curious. My review says 46 people "found this helpful" and yet the "Top Critical Review" shown for the product is a 3 star review of someone who actually recommends the product, and has just "6 people found this helpful". I don't dive into negative reviews much, but why wouldn't a top rated critical review be the top rated critical review? I would guess that perhaps one star comments are automatically eliminated?

Steamer is useless. Coffee is acceptable. Knob broke in 18 months
This machine is small and sleek. It makes an acceptable shot of coffee. But it is very noisy and shakes noticeably when brewing. The included tamper is a piece of plastic. The biggest disappointment for me is the steamer. Even when let it heat up, it loses steam (literally and figuratively) half way through. If you are making a latte then it will take you good 5-6 minutes because you will have to wait multiple times in between brewing coffee and steaming milk. But for 85 dollars maybe I am expecting too much. The knob is made of cheap plastic and broke in a year and half. Update after 3 months: the steamer rubber nozzle keeps falling off every few shots. Very disappointed. They should have just made it out if steel. Update after 12 months: the knob thats on the front is now going bad and becoming harder to turn. I wont be surprised if it stops working in a couple of months.

Milk frother failed on first use
It made my first espresso just fine, though the pump took a *very* long time to prime. Then I followed the instructions to froth my milk for a latte. Initially, frothing began, but then the pressure dropped so much there was barely any steam coming out at all. The milk stopped frothing, the milk never got past tepid (it was cold when I started). I decided to purge the system again, without the outer and inner nozzles and MILK CAME OUT of the machine! So somehow when it failed it must have sucked milk up into the steam/hot water dispense system. How is that even possible?! I ran a bunch of water through until it was clear and cleaned the nozzle parts. I tried running steam again and when I’d put the nozzle (reattached now) into the milk, it would just stop dispensing steam. If I lowered the milk exposing the bottom of the nozzle, I could detect only a very small amount of steam coming out. I purged the system again and eventually got the steam to come out again, but it seems that the steam system is very flaky. Sometimes it comes out with good pressure. Sometimes it comes out with almost no pressure. I’m very disappointed given the great reviews this inexpensive machine received. I’ll try it a little longer but will likely return it after Thanksgiving before my 30 days expires. I miss my old Krups. It served us well for over a decade but the pump was finally failing. This was to be our replacement, but it doesn’t look promising.

Super low quality!!!
I was very happy for the first 4 weeks of use with this low-cost machine. After a month, I had a problem with the build-in handler of this machine. The basket got stuck in it, I cannot take it off to place smaller basket now. I’ve ordered another handle with basket (as an accessory) instead of the build-in one. But I had another problem with my recent purchase too, this time the new basket deattaches from it’s base easily. Now, the handle comes off the brewing unit but the basket gets stuck in it. Funny 😄 right? This is how Delonghi builds it’s products lately. I am super dissatisfied with this brand and don’t buy anything ever again..

Do not buy this machine in India!!
I received a faulty machine and Cart2Globe did not replace it in India. They also do not give a warranty card, which is required to repair the machine in India. I wasted INR 25,000 on it and there was no accountability from the seller. Buy it at your own risk in India, at least. Really disappointed.

Bilginize.

Editing review after 2 years
I have only had this purchase for about a week but so far I like it enough to keep it and write a review. I needed a size small enough for a micro unit apartment and that is what I love about this. Its light and compact, I cant take it out of the cupboard and use it in the mornings and then put it back so it doesnt take up counter space. The espresso that comes out of it so far has been perfect and very tasty. The crema on top is incredibly thick. However, the milk doesnt get very hot and it will only steam once and then wont steam again until another shot of espresso has been poured. This was dissapointing at first but it does make a perfect temperature coffee once the milk is poured with the espresso. Just have to drink it right away which is ok. For the price id say its a feature I can live with. It does make tasty coffee. Its going bad now unusable bad water leaking everywhere Update: Shortly after this review I emailed delongi and they sent me a brand new one because of the leaking. As for the milk not frothing I wasnt using it properly, they taught me how to use it through a video call. I wasnt turning the side dial on when I used it (I know silly mistake). It still works perfectly today after two years. Im loving this for the price. Still cant afford a $1000 machine if this ever breaks I will definitely buy again. Excellent customer service from delongi and they even sent me a bottle of descaller free of charge.

Quiet and easy to use
Makes great coffee. Milk frother takes a bit of practice. I'll get there! Room for only short cups but you can remove the drip tray if necessary. Very pleased with it.
