Yes, it looks like a diner throw back from the 60's but it's great!. The best feature is the the handle does not heat up. You can remove the teapot from the stove without using a potholder. It's easy to pour as the handle is on the side in the correct position for pouring, not on top of the kettle where the steam from the hot water burns your hand. The whistle is a mellow whistle not that shrill screech you get from most teapots. The shape is not domed so the water boils a bit faster as there is less "ait space" to heat in the pot. Easy to clean, it's borosilicate glass. I purchased 2 just because I liked it so much. So much better than any "fancy high end" teapot.

My grandma has owned the exact same model and she's had it for over 20 years now. Her Medelco glass kettle is still going strong despite her being rough with it and using it with a gas stove for so many years. We were so happy using her kettle we sought out the same brand and product, and thank goodness we found it. Even though we have an electric stove, the glass kettle works just as well. Water heats up relatively quickly and the glass is resilient and is easy to clean. To clean it all we have to do is spray some vinegar on it and let it soak and all the blemishes wipe away with ease. Very happy with this kettle and hope we never have to replace it.

I bought one of these many years ago. I used it every day for so long I can't remember. I tried to figure out when I bought it, but my Quicken only goes back to 2008. When I finally needed this new one it was because I hit the old one on the stove and broke it. It IS glass. But I'm sure that I hit it on things before. It's good glass.

I have been looking for the perfect tea kettle for a while. The reviews on the typical metal ones seem to always have issues with rust forming, or the lining chipping off into the water. I really like that this is glass and wont have any harmful heavy metals leaching into the water, or rust! I love that it has a lid that whistles (shown in video) to let me know when it is ready. I was a little nervous about the ease of removing the lid since I had some trouble out of the box with getting the lid out. But with the heat from the water, it makes removing the lid a breeze! The glass seems sturdy, and the handle is easy to hold onto. I also like that it pours well! Why I removed 1 star is because the lid is plastic, and when getting a glass kettle to try to stay away from toxins, I can imagine with the heat from the steam hitting the plastic lid, there is a chance of some getting into the water from the heated plastic. There is another glass kettle available from a different brand that has a glass lid, which is ideal, but that one has reviews of too thin of glass on the kettle itself. Would be nice to have a glass lid option for this kettle.

Heats well and cleaning is easy. Nice to see when the water is close to boiling and the whistle works! Nice for glass top electric stoves.

We purchased this kettle less than 6 months ago and used it very gently only for serving coffee or tea after it was already heated elsewhere. It was never exposed to heavy use, commercial use, or abuse. In our home, only one person regularly used it, and it was handled with care at all times. Unfortunately, the glass cracked and completely separated around the top neck area near the handle, as shown in the pictures. This is a major safety concern because this part should not fail so easily under normal household use. A product like this should be made with stronger, more durable glass material, especially around the stress points near the handle and lid assembly. I contacted the seller hoping for support or a replacement, but I was told nothing could be done. I understand accidents happen and products can fail if abused, but this kettle was treated extremely carefully. When something breaks this easily during normal use, it raises serious concerns about the overall quality and durability of the product. I have purchased similar glass kettles locally in the past at a similar price point and never experienced this kind of issue. I chose Amazon this time for convenience, but the quality was clearly not the same. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this product. The pictures speak for themselves. Please be careful and consider other options before spending your money on this kettle.
