Pro-Tec Classic Skate Helmet

I bought the full cut Extra large version of this helmet first with the ear protectors. The full cut helmet is pretty tight on my head. My size is about a 7 3/4. That's my boonie hat size. The chart states that the the extra large accommodates 7 1/2 so I knew it was going to be a tight fit. I bought this half cut helmet to see if it fits better than the full cut one. It does fit a little better but still snug on the temples. I haven't used it for bmx applications or any other sport so I don't know the protection level. I read a review where a gentleman said he has a big head too and he used a 50lb weight to flatten the cushions then put them back in and claims the helmet fits good. So inspired, I put the cushions under 6 cases of bottle water under a metal plate for 3 hours. When I took the cushions out and put them back in it still was snug. Perhaps I need to ask the dudes paving my road if they could roll over my cushion pads one time for me. Overall it's a good helmet. The velcrow holding the pads to the helmet might come off. It is hot where I live so the sticky back velcrow got weak and came off the one connecting the back pad of helmet. The looks are good though. I got a Bell helmet that makes me look funny but fits better. I often wear a helmet when I go walking in case a branch or something falls down. With the bell helmet, everyone just stares at me and ignores me when I greet them thinking that I'm weird. With this helmet it sits lower so I look cool and people say hi to me. I bought the full cut version because that's what the NAVY SEALS use when boarding ships and maritime missions so I wanted a proven helmet.

Good helmet for a larger head

Havent smacked the cracker dome tet, but this lid provided me enough courage to not only take to the skate park, but to put my blades on as well!. ! Look folls, I worked in ems and public safety, I KNOW hownimportant helmets are in any sport or recreational activity. I know everywhere we look a government entity is regulating our safety, and even most of us have lived the "back in my day we didnt need a helmet" What we fail to realize however is people these days have lawyers, good ones, even your local "skate at own risk" part forgets to show the legal disclaimer that shows theor high dollar lawyers that will not hesitate to take things to trial. Dont be the one that thinks they can win-this helmet is far cheaper than a hoslpital bill or legal fees, and people at the skate park are used to seeing peopme with helmets so just buy the darn thing will ya. Good quality, great fit, comfortable and holds sweat well (till u take it off-then its anchors away.

7-1/4" is a medium/large in this soft foam helmet. I bought the black Protec knee guards aw well, since the have top and bottom Velcro straps that allow easy installation and removal, without having to remove your kicks, to put your leg through the sleeve. ********************************* We found a method of bypassing the training wheels for the Mocycl, and instead an assistant puts his foot in front of the wheel, while the victim...I mean rider..stands with both feet on the foot boards, gyro-assisted motor ON, while hanging on to the framework of a west coast truck/van mirror, the rider's freehand on the assistants shoulder. When the rider feels somewhat balanced, the assistant removes his foot and steadies the rider for 10 or 20-feet, until they wobble-off on their own. 5 sessions like that, and another 5-sessions with the assistant supporting the rider above their left hip and upper right-side back will provide the stability needed for the rider to gain his bearings about the balance spot on the wheel. Film director Ricardo Campos watched the taping of a Mocycl "How To" and visualized himself riding and balancing on the wheel - then performed the practice routines described above for 15-minutes and rode on his own. I wish I had all the time back that I wasted on training wheels... where was I when I needed me?

I LOVE this skate helmet. My 10 year old skates at least 3 times a week, and his prior helmet didn't fit as snug as I would have liked, and eventually cracked from use/falls. We replaced it with this ProTec helmet and my son could instantly feel a huge difference! Comfortable, breathable, and fits true to size (the ProTec site has a great sizing chart). I couldn't be happier with this purchase. A good fitting helmet is critical for skating, because every kids takes falls when they are learning new tricks. It's important to have the best quality protection possible.

This is a skateboard helmet and maybe it's approved it only for that use. But, for me, it gives the side protection missing from Petzl and similar climbing helmets. It's very light (12.5 oz.) and quite comfortable. The straps may not be as secure as Petzl and Black Diamond, and there is no visor, but I prefer this to my Bern (15.5 oz.) because it has foam that gives a bit more. examined all other comparable helmets available in this class: Bell, Wipeout, Razor, etc. The Protec helmet has a thicker styrofoam layer, more forgiving outer shell, thicker/softer later of internal padding, and better ventilation than similar competitive helmets. The Protec helmet was simply better designed in nearly every area of consideration. However, the Protec helmet was slightly more expensive but warrants the increased cost. Put differently, while although you are paying more you are getting more. If head protection really is your goal it doesn't make sense to cheap-out and seek the lowest expenditure model. The Protec sizing chart was also spot-on and fit exactly as predicted. Very pleased. Would not consider a competing model in a replacement scenario.

Love this helmet even though it is a bit large for my head but I just stuck some prices of foam on the inside comes with lots of stickers also the delivery was very quick.

Awesome helmet! Quick delivery, it was exactly what I had ordered and a perfect fit. Price was very reasonable as well. As suggested, I did measure my son's head to determine size and it was accurate. I highly recommend this product for teens and adults.

The price was reasonable but the inside pads came off and j had to glue them on again myself.

Great lid, kid loves it and should still provide good protection.
