Sharpest pair of scissors first slicing rope I've owned since 2015
Probably the best cheaper pair of scissors I've owned for splicing ropes... I was buying Clauss splicing scissors from well-known arborist websites, but then all of the sudden their quality went way down but the price went up (kind of like most things nowadays). I took a chance with these ones because they were cheap cheaper and a different brand un specifically stated they were made to cut high performance fibers like dyneema and I figured there's no way they could be any worse then what the Clauss brand has become. Well they snip right through Amsteel rope without any problems at all, versus the more expensive Clauss from arborist websites that would barely even cut one strand of Amsteel right out of the box. Now I can't give a review on how long they last because I haven't had them that long, but I don't think it matters for that price because even if I only get one month out of them before they go and I need to buy a new pair they've definitely made their money by then so who cares right? I actually also found the Clauss brand on Amazon at half the price of tree stuff in Sherrill Tree if anybody was wondering! Really don't have a clue why certain businesses have doubled and tripled their prices with no good reason because the quality has also gone down! I would definitely recommend these to anybody who splice his ropes, I have not come across the pair this sharp since 2015. Definitely recommended for cutting high-performance ropes and copper wire. If somebody tries to cut metal with steel in it and they write a bad review that doesn't reflect on these scissors, obviously they won't hold up with applications like that! I love the bad reviews I read when people buy a product that is very cheap and yet they still complain about it knowing it was cheap when they bought it lol!

These scissors worked great for kevlar thresd.
Scissors for cutting Kevlar thread. This pair of scissors worked great on Kevlar thread. I have some high end scissors that would not touch Kevlar. This product worked perfectly. They are well constructed high quality and at a reasonable price. I would recommend this product 100%. You will not be disappointed if you’re looking for scissors that will cut Kevlar like butter.

Wow. Super impressed with these scissors
Without exception, these are the best scissors I’ve ever owned. I have some really nice scissors that are hundreds of dollars and this pair of scissors for the size and the mission of cutting through hard cut items is way better. They’re easy to hold, ergonomic. They look substantial and absolutely get the job done. I used them to trim some Kevlar fabric, and it went right through it without issue and without dulling the blade. Wow a little bit more expensive, I’m really glad I bought these.

Best Kevlar Scissors Out There
I work a lot with epoxy and I can be tough on scissors. As a result, I've tried numerous scissors rated to cut kevlar cloth. The Ascend scissors are by far the best and a good value too boot. I am always surprised these smaller scissors out perform larger and supposedly more ergonomic brands. The Ascend blades also hold sharpness much longer than any others I've tried. I've also found these scissors useful for cutting synthetic ropes, especially the higher end lines.

Great Shears
I keep these with me at my workbench. They cut great, nice size just as described. I recommend them.

Nothing Special.
The shears cut well and are durable. They are not great for cutting gel impregnated carbon fiber. They cut both thin metal and woven cloth fiber with ease but are not exceptional.

Precise, tough, nimble, and convenient
Where have these shears been all my life? I’ve gotten by (barely) with regular paper-type Fiskars scissors, wire-cutter-style dykes, tin snips, many other types of scissors, and X-Acto knives. But I recently had a super-tough job facing me: Precisely trimming to the edge, some 40-mil-thick (1 mm) discolored and hardened rear-window vinyl on my convertible (a Miata) after having glued on a piggy backed replacement sheet of clear PVC. Nothing was working and I was depressed. After careful research here on Amazon, I ordered these 5½-inch carbon steel shears from Ascend Tools. Everyone should own a pair of these; you don’t know what you’re missing. They handily fill the gap between regular scissors and tin snips, and they do a wonderful job. In the photo, note the curved cut line denoted by the arrow; that’s where I cut away the old, orange-translucent, UV-hardened original rear window near-flush to the OEM heat-welded join border. It was easy. I precisely advanced every 2 to 3 millimeters and didn’t have to use the “lateral squeeze English” on the handles like we all unconsciously do with regular scissors when cutting extra-thin or extra-tough materials. See the video. I can’t say enough good things about these shears. They are exceedingly well made, commercial-grade instruments and are well-worth the money. There are a multitude of ways to make things cheaper but doing so necessarily sacrifices in quality; this is a temptation that Ascend clearly didn’t want to make. I should have owned these decades ago. Darn. They would have saved me a lot of time and would also have improved the quality of many of my projects. I just stowed them in a privileged spot on my peg board after having wiped them down with a few drops of 3-In-1 oil (treatment reserved for “special” tools).

Does a terrific job
I use light weight fiber glass cloth on my RC planes. Cutting the fiber glass in a straight line is a real problem with most scissors. This Ascend tool does an amazing job. It cuts easily, cleanly, and makes exactly the cut that I want. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny for the job it does.

I've had these scissors for a couple years. They are as sharp today as the day I got them. So worth the price if you do any rope work!
