I stumbled across these head torches by chance but they were exactly what I wanted for my twin 6 year olds. All the head torches I found previously were too bright 200 lumens and above. It concerned me that they would shine their lights into each other’s eyes at times and possibly cause some damage. These are 40 lumens so still bright but safer for kids and made really well. They are small, light weight and easy to use. My kids loved them immediately. A big hit!

Nice and bright and handy that it takes 1AA rather than 3aaa.100lm draws around 1.3Amps from a fresh Alkaline30lm draws around 250mA from a fresh alkalineThe red light draws around 100ma from a fresh alkaline.The red light does cut off at low voltages, however the main LED continues operating down to a very low voltage (Approx. .5v for a decent amount of light )which is nice as it means it uses up the entire battery capacity. It continues to work down to .25V and still has more than enough light to see in the dark with. (Around 60ma of current at 0.3v)

I use this head torch every weekend while camping be it stealth or wild camping. A single rechargeable AA will keep this powered long enough that I have plenty of light. I take another battery as spare but until now never needed it. Fantastic head torch! Gives me enough light without being too obvious on a stealth camp. Oftenly sit with red mode so my eyes aren't too strained.

Don’t buy this torch, I have bought two torches and both are getting hot and battery lasts 15minutes😬 realized it too late before returning it
