Real basketball
I loved this first volume of Inoue's Real. As often Inoue's art is outstanding and the narrative of this first instalment flows beautifully, with well paced panels from someone who has decades polishing his style and storytelling. It is sad that his work still remains somehow only known by a small community in comparison to what sells nowadays (you know what I am talking about). The real, this time around, comes from the struggles of a young man who is dealing from PtSD and school exclusion. After giving up on his own future, he meets another young boy on a wheelchair who with he shares his love for basketball.

Its the REAL Deal!!!
It is masterfully written manga by Takehiko Inoue revolving around overcoming what life throws at you. Three main characters are trying to live their lives and find their path. You relate to them, because at least once in your life you had similar thoughts. As manga progresses you progress with it. You want to join them in their fights with obstacles. You want to go out and start playing basketball. You want to start studying and live your life at the fullest possible way. You are inspired not by their victories, but by their transformation. Journey is sometimes more important than the destination. And this is one of those times.

Basketball with heart
What can I say about REAL that hasn't been said before? It's another basketball manga from the amazing Takehiko Inoue, but this time focusing on wheelchair basketball but also on how characters are linked by their love of basketball. It's a great story with amazing art, and if you want something deep but also fun you'll be in for a treat. Highly recommended.

Real art
I don't really care about basketball or any sport, but Inoue's passion for it, alive in his characters, is quite contagious. At the same time, it's not really about basketball. It's about dealing with whatever life throws your way, transcending what seems like your limits, and becoming a better person in the process. The story is inspirational, the characters and relationships are complex and engaging, and the art, OMG the art!Nitpicking: 1) Not sure why the artist can't draw females as well as he draws males. 2) Would have loved to have more content per volume.
