MG Chemicals PLA Premium 3D printing filaments are manufactured under very strict quality controls to ensure consistant quality and a tight diameter tolerance accuracy. The new plastic spool is designed with a large hub to ensure a uniform winding of filament and cut outs on the sides to easily see how much filament is left. The PLA filament itself is made from high purity USA made PLA pellets that gives off a mild sweet smell when heated. PLA is an optimal choice for use in homes and schools. It does not require a heated print bed and easily adheres to masking tapes. MG Chemicals offers one of the largest selections of unique and vivid colors of 3D printer filaments in the market

Whether it's good or bad depends on operator and printer
Environment==========Ultimaker S5 using Generic PLA profile in Ultimaker CuraSoutheast Texas going from hard freeze to 70+% RH at 80 degrees during a large (full plate, 34 hour) print.Assessment==========Dimensional accuracy is maybe not the best. I'd guesstimate somewhere between 0.03mm and 0.05mm; print layers are obvious, without close inspection. Layer adhesion is good, plate adhesion with PVA (glue stick) is optimal. It does absorb moisture faster than most PLA so I had to keep mine in a heated dry box during the whole print. Failure to do so resulted in splits along print seams, and warping at corners less than 120 degrees. Interesting chemistry though; it's more resistant to polyurethane than PLA typically is. Sands and polishes beautifully. Conclusion==========If you want near seamless quality on first print with 2.85mm filament, pick Ultimaker, Polymaker, or Lulzbot. But if you're processing it post-print anyway this stuff will hugely reduce your costs. And at this price I really can't argue with it needing labor I was going to do anyway.

WORST filament I've ever used. Perios
This filament is unusually brittle even for PLA, and has trouble a TON feeding into the printer (lulzbot mini 2). It cracks while being fed into the extruder and then will just grind against the feeding mechanism forever, resulting in splotchy lines and then is just "air printing". Bought two rolls, and just wasted 40$!!!!!!!!! Literally two BRAND NEW rolls won't print, can't even get it to finish a benchy. Swapped out to some Hatchbox and some Amazon Basics, then ran fine without changing anything but the filaments.

Wow - just WOW
This prints perfect and made some really cool gifts for my grandkids. It glows perfect and I love that it is green when there is light. Absolutely zero issues printing with my Aries and I will definitely use it again ... the kiddos loved it.

Unprintable
This filament clogs up my hotend within minutes of printing. Large prints are certain to fail. I tried if a high temperature would get through it, but even at 260C it jams up. I built a jam detection to pause my prints in hopes to recover, but the printer 'sputters' for long times before jamming completely. Clearly not an option either. Maybe large nozzles (>0.4mm) could work with this, but I am not going to try that. What a shame... and waste of time, money, and material. Its the first spool in 3 years of printing that is this bad.

Surprised since another reel of MG Chemicals filament I purchased has been fine. The color is nice and bold though
This filament is unusually brittle even for pla, and has trouble feeding into the printer (lulzbot taz 4). It cracks while being fed into the extruder and will grind against the feeding mechanism for a moment, resulting in a few splotchy lines and problems with printing (delamination between layers, rough surface). Surprised since another reel of MG Chemicals filament I purchased has been fine. The color is nice and bold though.

Pink Color not at all like in picture
The pink color of this PLA is very pale compared to the image, nor was it a neon color. I tried it against a black light and there was no glow, so it lacks fluorescence as well. Although that wasn't a deal-breaker, the color not being as bright and bold as marketed in the images was.

not orangey like some other brands
The media could not be loaded. MG Chemical's red PLA is a true red, not orangey like some other brands. It printed much smoother than the other brand's black filament which I used while making this Pokeball. It is reliable enough to complete a 72 hour print without any issues, pauses, or tweaking. See video for example of the finish (note no support needed and the clean smooth surface on the dragon's belly). Nice stuff!

Looks good.
Arrived as specified. 2.85mm on spools, vacuum packed, with desiccant, and end taped. The reusable, ziploc bag is a nice touch. I don't have a printer to test it yet, but it looks good.

Caveat emptor
Cheap filament... It arrived well-packaged in an airtight bag with desiccant, but now I'm having troubles with jams and nozzle blocking, which suggest large tolerances in diameter and/or poor material QC. 3* because I can't prove anything.

Smooth glossy finish prints well
Very nice glossy finish and no problems with spitting and nozzle blockage like some of amazons cheaper offerings

Good price, so-so quality. Caused a jam in my printer.
Quite good quality if you can get it to print properly. Not sure why but this particular filament brand is quite brittle, more so than it should be. By comparison the filaments I get from Filaments.ca are sealed well and coiled properly to prevent the spool getting stuck. This MG Chemicals stuff by comparison has far less play because it's not as fresh so to speak and actually snapped during printing. It's also coiled pretty badly out of the box and caused the spool to get stuck at one point. For the price though it isn't bad just be mindful that you sort of get what you pay for.EDIT: Took one star off. The filament is so brittle in some parts that this filament actually broke off inside the extruder assembly of my printer and caused a nozzle clog. Required a good amount of dis-assembly and cleaning to finally clear the clog, but not something you want to deal with if you're working on a time sensitive project.

Bought by mistake
I was purchasing different glow-in-the-dark PLA spools at the time and purchased this thinking it was white glow-in-the-dark. It was not, but the material is perfectly fine for making models especially if you are going to paint after the fact.

Great value
This material is great on my ultimaker printer. Color is bright and the builds are crisp.
