The lamp works beautifully as a reading lamp next to a chair
The lamp works beautifully as a reading lamp next to a chair. It moves to the side easily so you can converse around it, and the light is perfect for reading on a kindle or reading an old-fashioned book. We had little problem assembling it, once we discovered that the little screws that hold the pole in the bottom plate were already screwed in. You have to loosen them to push the pole into its slot on the bottom plate.The only reason I gave this lamp 4 instead of 5 stars is that it doesn't have a dimmer switch. It has two settings to adjust the light, but a dimmer would have been great.

Like the Design
Like look of the design and simplicity of the adjustments.Directions to assembly were a little confusing for attaching base. There is a tiny set screw that must be turned out to insert pole into the base, then tightened again.Seems a bit pricey, but I guess a clean design has its price.

Sonneman is one of the best
Sonneman products are one of the best. I have had one for over 10 years and it still is perfect. Love the complete dimmable feature. Bought this one for a client of mine. He loves it to read and his wife loves it for needlework. The bronze finish is beautiful and after years of dusting looks like new. I think I replaced the bulb about 5 years ago.

Not a good experience
The lamp, which required minimal assembly, had parts that were either damaged, or just did not fit together. The lamp had apparently been previously returned, then shipped to the next customer (me) without having been inspected. I returned it without reordering.

this was my second purchase. excellent lighting, easy to assemble. bulb does get hot

Handsome lights that aren't made very well
I bought two of these lights from a local store and love the style. But, I had trouble with both, returned them for the same ones, and had trouble with those too. I couldn't get the lights to stay on. It wasn't a loose bulb but something wrong with the switches. As much as I want to love these, they don't seem to be made very well. For the price, I would expect better.
