All aboard! Destination: Boogieland.
Author Hamsley is the conductor on a love train "To Disco With Love." And love is the sentiment that glints off each page like light specks off a disco ball. There is true scholarship underlying the affection though. Written by someone deeply knowledgeable on their subject, the book provides countless fresh aperçus about some of the best-known songs in the disco canon. But this is more than just a nostalgia trip. With solid scholarship and the vibrant graphics from disco's greatest LP sleeves, the book conclusively affirms disco as one of the most innovative and creative sounds to enliven the 20th century. I thought I knew a fair amount about disco, but from this book I learned about a hundred times more. Recommended unreservedly.

Didn't want it to end
Reading this I was transported to a simpler time. The 70's and 80's was a decade that made more sense, especially the disco era. The music had its own kind of groove that turned your soul into a dance floor. David Hamsley definitely knows his stuff

LOVE THIS BOOK!
I guess I'll have to buy another one. I bought this as a gift. When I received it, and took one look at the cover, I HAD to take a peek inside. Well, long story short, I couldn't stop myself. One page led to another, and before I knew it, I had pawed my way through the entire book. Since it is now a "used book", I will not give it as a gift, and buy another one for that. Each time I go through it, it brings back more memories....while looking at the vivid pages, I hear the music, remember the rhythm of the dance, feel the passion of my sex driven youth, and smile. Ahhhh. THIS BOOK IS FUN!

This is an excellent survey of not only the recorded music of the '70s and '80s disco era, it is also a lesson in how photographic, illustrative and graphic trends have been and continue to be lead by the nose by the music industry. The book is generous in illustrations and Mr. Hamsley's content addresses the cultural conditions of disco development while maintaining a light academic tone and manner. It is an excellent book for music lovers, graphic professionals and music historians.I'm amused that the book is set in the now-venerable Souvenir, a wildly popular typeface in the 1970s.

If you love disco this is a must
It's a lot more than I expected. It has album covers and groups I had forgotten about. So nice trip down memory lane to a time more pleasant than we're living in now.

Great for holiday and any day gift giving
I bought 5 copies of this book! One for myself and the rest for friends. Great for holiday and any day gift giving! Even though I was more a CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City girl, I danced many a night away in Provincetown. Disco was king! And this book brings it all back! What a treasure. It is well written, funny and beautifully laid out. Also a wonderful tribute to the lost art of album covers. Don't hesitate. Buy it now!

Excellent Book with unexpected good stuff.
Excellent material. Recently compiled, edited and published by the end of 2015. I was thrilled when I saw the content. Good quality photos (no pixel-ed images nor bad quality photos at all). The author made a very good research and got access to the original material. For sure there were many other covers he could have included, but those already in are fantastic. It is organized in chapters: portraits, drawings, psicodelia, color, black and white, etc. I will wait for a second updated version or a second similar book and I will definitely get it. Excellent Job, great purchase for me.

First rate
First rate book of disco album covers along with a decent background for them along with an interesting essay on disco music, the rise and the slow evolution into many other musics. Totally recommended with high quality pics throughout of the wonderful albums (some I recall, some I do not)

Loving retrospective of a breadth and depth of disco and post disco record covers. Well worth putting on your coffee table.

Great book...But...
This is a fantastic portable book which showcases many of the records that defined the Disco era, but it also has some glaring omitions from it. For instance, why include an LP by "singer" Leonore O'Malley (who didn't actually sing on her records, it was Catherine Russell's voice instead) whose single "First Be A Woman" barely scraped the top 30, but not include the album by pianist and singer songwriter Patsy Gallant, who had a massive Disco hit with "From New York To L.A. back in 1976? But this is a minor gripe about a great book.
