Battery Replacement Kit for Garmin Nuvi 3790LMT with Installation Video, Tools, and Extended Life Battery.

Not hard to install at all, though getting the case off is a bit of an effort. And, it's true, the original battery is glued down pretty tight. However, overall, the instructional video is terrific and makes everything simple. When you consider that some "experts" say you should just throw away your GPS when the battery dies, this replacement battery offers a $30 fix. Also, since the alternative to doing this is a GPS paperweight, it makes you more willing to treat the case a bit roughly as you remove the cover. That said, I got the case off without much visible damage. HOWEVER, be careful in the area of the micro-USB input when you are prying the case off. It's easy to damage the delicate input. I damaged it but was able to just push the sides of the input back into place, so even that wasn't a big deal. Input still works fine.

Much better than the original battery.

Not too much to say really! It just works! It's easy to install. The biggest problem is removing the original battery which is glued in with a large double sided adhesive pad, but once you remove that, the rest is a piece of cake. Had this thing for several months. If like me, you usually keep your Garmin in it's cradle charging, then the batteries do seem to suffer from overcharging and gradually lose their capacity to hold a usable charge, and this is no exception as with the original battery. Lithium Ion batteries supposedly do not suffer from such but that's not my experience. It could be that extreme heat and cold Affects their performance too, but when placed in a car window, such extremes are difficult to avoid. I would recommend as it has worked well for me!

This seems an excellent replacement battery for the Garmin 3700 series - I used it in a 3790. I forget the exact capacity spec but seem to recall it is about 1250 ma-hrs, which is about 49% higher capacity than the about 840 ma-hrs rating of the original Garmin battery. Only time will tell if it indeed lasts a lot longer.Installation was fairly easy. A DVD is provided that shows clear instructions. There was one difference for my 3790. The DVD shows a back cover in one piece the full size of the GPS. My 3790 has a two-part back cover. It is the larger piece that must be removed.A plastic tool is provided to wedge under the edge of the back cover, slide along the edge to lift up the back cover, and pry off the back cover. It generally worked well. I used a small metal flat-blade screwdriver in addition to their plastic tool. The back cover is also glued in place, so especially on the side of the cover abutting the smaller section of the back cover, I had to pull up quite a bit to break loose the glue bond. Also, the original Garmin battery itself is stuck in place with some rather strong adhesive. I had to pull it fairly hard to remove the battery. Disconnect the battery wire connector first and then pull out the battery to help prevent damaging any connectors.Replacing the battery is easy once the back cover is off. The battery and the speaker have press-on connectors. They are different sizes so you can't get them mixed up. Just be careful working - this is not a time to multitask! - and it should go fine.Once the new battery is in place, the back cover snaps back onto the GPS. I find that it snaps back in place but is not quite as tight a fit as it was originally. Works fine, though.In the three Garmin GPS I've owned, original Garmin batteries seem to have low capacity and lose their ability to hold a charge too soon. This replacement battery kit is a great option to extend the life of your Garmin Nuvi GPS. So far I highly recommend it.If this review was helpful please let me know by voting for it.

This battery was easy to install. I am glad they have a lithium ion battery to replace the original for a longer battery life.

I replaced the battery in my GPS unit, but it won't keep a full charge and doesn't turn back unless it is in the mount.

Item does not fit in Garmin as described.

The tool provided to open the unit was not so hot. Ended up using my pocket knife. The battery was not so hard to install, but the original battery was really glued in there. A lot of time and carefull praying finally got it out. So far the Garmin is working fine with the new battery. It would not even turn on with the old battery. Happy for now!

Arrived sooner than expected and worked perfectly. Took a chance that my GPS was dead due to a dead battery that could not longer charge (no charging LED when plugged in so wasn't sure - no sign of life). It was the battery and the NewPower99 battery is working great!
