The Action Bible: God's Redemptive Story (Action Bible Series)

I’m not a very religious person, but recently I’ve decided to try to read the entire Bible. The Bible I own is a leather-bound NLT Life Application Study Bible and really nice, but it’s 2,528 full-sized pages of super tiny print on thin paper. It’s a challenge. I can usually get through about 3 pages before I start nodding off trying to remember who begat whom and all their names. My neighbor and her beautiful veterinarian daughter are super knowledgeable about theology, and they recommended this version. I was excited to order it but expected a small kids book that I would read in a couple of hours.I was wrong. This is a giant book, with 830 high-quality pages and really impressive illustrations on every page. Okay, it IS like a comic book because the man who wrote it worked for DC and Marvel Comics as an illustrator. But the information is on point and delivered in a much easier-to-read, fun way.If you’re like me and want to finally read the Bible, this is a great way to do it. I’ll still read my 2,500-page Bible, but these 830 pages will give me a better initial understanding and, hopefully, keep me more engaged when I do.Bottom line—this book is outstanding, and I’m so glad I bought it.

I used to be a librarian, and I remember seeing The Action Bible on the shelves and thinking it was such an interesting way to present the Bible. So when I came across it again, I had to get one for myself. What I really like is that it doesn't feel like you're sitting down to read page after page of narration. The Bible's stories are presented in a graphic-novel format, with really well-done illustrations and natural dialogue that makes the story easy to follow.I think this is especially appealing to people who might struggle with a traditional Bible or simply connect better with visual storytelling. It doesn't feel like a watered-down version—it just presents the stories in a completely different way.And honestly, as a former librarian, I love that this is the kind of book that can pull someone in who might not otherwise pick up a Bible.

This was purchased for a 13-year old who likes graphic novel style books. I was BLOWN AWAY by the hundreds upon hundreds of gorgeous highly detailed color pictures. The characters just pop off the pages! This is not a complete bible but contains a large percentage. The price is so reasonable, I'm not sure how they could even produce such a gorgeous book like this for so little. There is a lot of dialog between characters that "fills in" the story and draws you into what the people were likely feeling and experiencing. This scared me at first, as I feared it wasn't accurate, but I soon realized it is so well done, it's like watching a movie of the events of the Bible (kind of like watching The Chosen).

I'm buying my 5th Action Bible. My kids have lovingly torn up 4 other books. (I have 7 kids aged 0-17) and they will pile up and sit on the back of the couch reading to each other. So sometimes the toddler will grab a page by accident. Sometimes a kid drinking water will spill it on the page while they are laughing, etc. There is only so much one book can handle! This current one I have is relatively new but we've been packing to move so younger kids have had the book without an older person to keep them responsible. They get completely sucked into these pages. And to be honest as an adult who has read the complete Bible, there are some stories where I droned out because I lost interest but the Action Bible puts it into perspective for me that captivates even me. I had to go back to my own Bible because I was like... wow that's what that story was about??... Which is the whole purpose of this book. To thoroughly bring it to life and to keep seeking out the depth of God's love.We own the other books as well and my kids favorite thing is to make up trivia with each other.Lastly, my husband is adamant about the sensitivity of the artwork (I am too, but I am happy to say my husband is visually protective over his kids). He does not like the Kingstone (?) version. He is mostly concerned with anything demonic and overly provocative women. Which we believe this one handles it well. You can understand the sinful nature of various people without being unnecessary for young children. There is not a single other kids Bible we've had that really makes them curious or understand the truth other than this one.

The stories are rephrased well in easy to understand terms. They are especially well referenced to the actual stories in the Bible. I've gotten several of them for the young men in my life from 13-22 years old and 1 for a 15 year old girl. They were all interested as soon as they saw them. Great artwork by an artist who does famous comic books. Highly recommend.

This bible is absolutely perfect! Good quality material and photos. It captures my son's eyes immediately. The color are so bright. I definitely love it!

Greatest book illustrating the most important story of all time. It’s literally perfect. I loved reading it. Art is outstanding.

A really good way to introduce someone to the bible for the first time. We don't really know how the people in the Bible looked. But a good place to start. Especially for children.

Wow this book is incredible. The cartoon illustrations are very thoughtful and complex. The creators are very talented and have produced illustrations which would suit an adult audience but also be extremely stimulating and exciting for teenagers and young adults. The book is quite thick and tells many of the important stories from the Bible. I would absolutely recommend this.
