TRANSFER CASE HALF REAR (REINFORCED) - NV 261 HD NP 261 HD NV 263 HD NP 263 HD

So far so good. It has been about 2 weeks since I made the repairs. No more leaking and worrying about running my case dry. The case mated right up to the front half. All bolt holes etc. we’re properly aligned. I wish the magnesium case would have been priced this way. Now the sad part. I ended up doing this procedure twice because the output shaft bearing was not fully seated in the case. I checked multiple times by prying on the bearing to make sure it did not move. Once in the truck I took it for a test drive and heard a noise coming from the transfer case. Tore it all apart to find that I had to sand the inside of the case half to allow the bearing to fully seat. One thing I would recommend is instructions for this particular area. Other than that I am happy.

Fit my 05 NP263HD perfectly. Came with speed sensor plug and one drain/fill plug. Would be nice if it came with the second plug, new snap ring, and output seal, but for the price you get exactly what is advertised. Here’s hoping long term durability is good as well.

Used this case half to replace my NP263HD. Is aluminum and stronger than original metal, but I added the Merchant Automotive pump upgrade anyway. I read on many other feedbacks people have a hard time getting case to drop over the rear output shaft bearing, some grind it open. Let me explain, the bearing fits very snug by design. An experienced tech would know you gently work the case back and forth to seat bearing. No force is needed, just patients. Once the case half is in, just use a screw driver through the speedo hole to lift the shaft and seat the holding clip. Only other issues with this case half is it comes with two open Speedo sensor holes. One needs to be plugged and you will need to find a plug. Hope helpful.
