Pipette Mineral Sunscreen - SPF 50 Broad Spectrum Baby Sunblock with Non-Nano Zinc, UVB/UVA Non-Toxic Sun Protection for Kids & Sensitive Skin, 4 fl oz

I have pale, dry skin, and I burn easily. I wear sunscreen for preventing premature aging, so I wear this on my face, neck, and hands. I also have mild rosacea. Also, as much as I do prefer mineral sunscreens, some of the claims they make have been proven false or exaggerated. Science can't actually prove that chemical sunscreens harm coral reefs because they can't test on a large enough scale. And the claim that harmful chemicals are absorbed into the bloodstream is mostly a marketing tactic, not all sunscreen chemicals are harmful. Do your own research, and remember: the best sunscreen is the one that you will wear every day. That being said, here are my pros and cons for this sunscreen. The pros: - this is a mineral sunscreen: my face in particular can't handle chemical sunscreens - it's lightweight and easy to rub in - it doesn't burn my eyes unless I rub them and get the product in them, which is my own fault - it leaves a dewy finish. My skin is dry, so I prefer this to a matte finish - I get a tiny amount of white cast, but it goes away after it gets absorbed into the skin - it is very moisturizing, I stopped using my moisturizer in the morning when I started using this - it smells like sunscreen, but not really. And it goes away almost instantly - it's broad spectrum and SPF 50. We don't know the PPD value, but 20% zinc oxide is pretty high, and zinc oxide itself is a good sun-blocking ingredient. - the ingredients: squalene is super moisturizing, and glycerin is a good humectant. It's also fragrance-free - it's NOT water-resistant. This is a pro for me for 2 reasons. (1) some water-resistant sunscreens make my face break out and (2) I can't wash my face with a cleanser every day, so I need a sunscreen that comes off with just water The cons: - it feels weird on the skin before it absorbs. While squalene is very moisturizing, it has a texture and if you're sensitive then this can be a little uncomfortable for a few minutes while it absorbs. - it's also sticky while it's absorbing - if you put a full 2 fingers worth on at one time, it feels weird and heavy. I do 1 finger, let it absorb, then do another 1 finger I work in an office, so I only apply this before I leave for work. If I'm out for the day, I re-apply every 2 hours. After the 4th or so application it does start to feel heavy, but at least I know my skin is moisturized and protected. All in all, I will be repurchasing this as long as they don't make it water-resistant. I can wear it every day, and reapply as needed with no issues. Update 5/9/2022 I have repurchased this sunscreen twice now. I still love it and it's the only one I can use consistently. Another pro is that the squalane makes this a really good slip for my morning gua sha routine.

Update: I'm so bummed. It appears I've developed severe contact dermatitis (looks like a serious allergic reaction, but antihistamine doesn't help) to something in this. Hives at application site takes days to recover (gets worse with each reaction). Found other users with the same reaction (search reviews for "reaction" or "allergic", there are quite a few). Wish I knew which ingredient. It's 4 days from my last reaction, and my skin is still itching, red, and feels like leather. Feels like a bad chemical burn or severe sunburn. First 2 days, my skin covered in hives, swollen, red, and hot. Feels like bugs crawling on my face and biting me constantly. I've NEVER had a reaction to any skin care ingredients, but understanding is that anyone can develop a sensitivity to any ingredient any any time. Doesn't mean the product is bad, but I need to figure out which ingredient caused this horrible reaction. Sigh. So far, doing ok with Soon Jung and Dr G's mineral sunscreen. Now that Pipette is out, those two are in. Still love the Pipette baby shampoo and use it on my face, because it doesn't burn my eyes. Previous review: I was pleasantly surprised by this. I expected a white cast, and possibly a chalky fell for Zinc Oxide with an spf of 50. Glad I decided to give this a try after seeing recommendation from Dr Alexis Stevens. - Easy to spread - Feels Moisturizing, not drying - No white cast. I am fair skinned with yellow tone

I use this sunscreen daily. It does not leave a white cast on my light skin but it does on my partner’s dark skin. Even though there is a slight white cast on dark skin, it still isn’t as bad as other brands. It is somewhat greasy, but I have oily skin. It blends well and is easy to spread. My only con is that after 8-12 hours of wear (I work 10-12 hours), it SERIOUSLY burns my eyes. If I scratch or rub near my eye, it will burn enough to make me have to wash it off. Because of this, I wouldn’t put it on my baby. But I still love this sunscreen. The price point for the amount of product is great.

I've been a CoTz user for 6 or 7 years and have wanted to find something similar in terms of ingredients but less pricey. I trialed-and-errored stuff from Coppertone and other brands but always went back to CoTz. One day, I saw a Pipette ad on my Instagram feed (yes, I know) -- I decided to click in and was sold by the demonstration clip of the sunscreen's application being lotion-like. I purchased to just give Pipette a chance and have been pleasantly surprised. I have tried sunscreens targeted towards babies that have been oily (hi, Honest Company) and some have applied like chalk (hi, Babyganics), but this sunscreen really applies like in its demo clips. It rubs in like lotion and doesn't leave a cast. There is no true fragrance in terms of ingredients, but does have a Coppertone Mineral scent to me, which isn't overbearing or irritating. It also avoids essential oils a lot of mineral sunscreens love to throw in. Being a mineral sunscreen, you still will sometimes feel a bit of a layer but otherwise it has felt smooth to me texture-wise. I use this only on my body, and it's great, but note that it is fine to use on the face too. I am Asian and have tan skin and I have no cast when using this. If anything, my kneecaps may seem slightly casty upon initial application, but it disappears after a few minutes. I can't really speak for the moisture factor listed in the review since the SPF isn't marketed as being moisturizing, but heck...let's just say it does that too. For 4 oz at $16.50, it's way cheaper than my CoTz that was $25 for around the same size (and the CoTz had a slightly thicker feel). This item is amazing.

I've been using this sunscreen for about a year now. I am afrolatina and wear Fenty Beauty Pro Filter color 350, Loreal True Match liquid color W7, and Makeup Forever Ultra HD stick color Y445 for skin color reference. I have very sensitive skin. I cannot wear the Neutrogena Clear Face chemical sunscreen because it irritates the skin on my face, as do most chemical sunscreens. My dilemma was being able to find a mineral sunscreen that would not leave a white cast on my face. I don't like to wear makeup very often, so I do not have the option of covering up any potential white cast. Pipette has been absolutely wonderful! It is so gentle on my skin. My eyes do not burn, even when I sweat, and it doesn't give me a white cast. THINGS TO NOTE -I'll start by saying that I apply A LOT of sunscreen. I put a large nickel to quarter size amount on my fingers and rub it into my face and on my neck. So if this sunscreen was going to give a white cast, I would know. -The first "trick" I noticed to avoiding a white cast is that the sunscreen absorbs better when I have applied my serums and moisturizer first. In the MORNING use Timeless Vitamin C serum, followed by the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 serum, and I finish with the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. I don't use AM because it has sunscreen in it. After I apply those three products, I put on the Pipette sunscreen. On days where I've been in a rush and just put on sunscreen, I noticed that it took longer and required more rubbing to get the sunscreen to absorb. And even then, I felt like there was just the smallest hint of a white cast. -The second "trick" (or more of a notice) is that you have to give the sunscreen about 10 min to absorb. It will look like you will have a white cast right after you first apply, but after 10 min, it absorbs and clears up. So factor that time into your morning routine. -It goes great under makeup. I use liquid and stick foundations (with some powder over), and I have not noticed any change in application. I used to have very oily skin (particularly t-zone), but my skin is more normal now since I've been using tretinoin. -You may think that the sunscreen will make your face shiny or sticky upon first application, but it doesn't. Again, give it about 10 min to absorb.

I would actually give this sunscreen a 4.5! This whole year, I've been obsessed with finding the perfect mineral sunscreen for my dry, flaky skin. The problem that I've found with most mineral sunscreens is that they're either too drying for my skin and pill up and ball, or they cause a purple grey cast on my face that does not settle after waiting ten minutes. I'm light, however, I have very yellow asian undertones that conflict with most mineral sunscreens. The pipette baby sunscreen has so far been the most moisturizing and spreadable formula for mineral sunscreen that I've yet to use. The white cast is minimal after a few minutes (although I should note that despite the fact that I have pretty light skin, you can still see the difference between my natural undertones/skin and where I've applied the sunscreen). However, the only down side of this sunscreen is the fact that it is so oily and leaves you looking a little too shiny throughout the day. Even with my dry skin, I am not a huge fan of the shine that this sunscreen leaves. It almost feels as if it hasnt settled down/set in place the whole time you're wearing it. I don't necessary mind this oiliness because I put a more mattifying mineral sunscreen on my t-zone to cover the shine and that seems to be working well. If you're looking to try out an easily spreadable and gentle sunscreen, try out this one! I'm certain that people with drier skin will find this sunscreen very easy and pleasant to wear!

The spf value and texture are actually really nice considering the amount of zinc oxide in the formula. I am a white person but I have warm olive undertones and this kind of showed up purple on my skin, but it usually went away after about an hour. My main gripe is that this really dried out and irritated my eye area, and this was the only product that changed in my skincare routine. I usually wear cerave lotion on the face followed by the BGS kid’s sunscreen spf 50. It works great. When I wear this stuff, it seriously dries out my eyelids. Within the first hour they look and feel tight and dry. I wore this stuff for two weeks and it made my eyelids peel and shed. It wasn’t necessarily painful, but it was extremely uncomfortable and jarring to have sizable rolls of skin coming off of my eyelids & eye area whenever I touched them. I also tried this product because my BGS uses organic UV filters so there is always going to be eye sting. This one stings about the same amount. I’m not reallly sure what I was expecting but this stuff really dries out my actual eyeballs and my contacts. This is a hard pass around the eyes and eye region, at least for me. On the rest of my face, though, this worked fine. It didn’t really aggravate or pacify my acne, which is fine, and it didn’t necessarily leave me feeling more or less dry in those areas, like my mouth, cheeks, and jaw. Around my hairline, this kind of has trouble blending in, but that’s a product of mineral sunscreens period. My stubble also really struggled with this. I think the texture and consistency of this stuff is more suitable on the body, but I’d use it on my face if I was out of my daily stuff. The texture of it is really nice. I like to look lacquered, shiny, and glowy, and this product can certainly accomplish that. Overall, not sure why it doesn’t work out for my around my eyes but it’s pretty good for places that aren’t my eyes or under eyes.

So last year I was looking for a sunscreen that wasnt toxic for me or the sea 🪸 🐟 🐠(or at least not to toxic, cause most are), one that didnt have a white cast 🤡 (especially with my makeup), and that can do the job no matter what climate I'm in ☀️. Also my husband needed something that wouldnt burn 🔥 or irritate his eyes. After all my research I ended up with this brand and Thrive. Both great products but I love that Pipette didnt have much of a scent. Not that Thrive has a bad or overwhelming scent to me, but there still a lemon-ish smell. Pipette checked all my boxes, especially in Mexico 🥵. My husband and I wore it everyday and still do. I thought the bottle was to small to use on 3 adults for a whole week using it as directed especially when it comes to reapplying. We still had a little bit left after the trip. 😁 My husband used up all the Thrive sunscreen days within the trip b/c hes very fair skin and he over does things sometimes.🤦🏽‍♀️ I dont know if Thrive sunscreen hurt his eyes but Pipette did not at all.🙅🏾‍♀️ As fair skin as he is he didnt burn the whole trip and he got a nice tan which is very hard for him since hes a burnner. All in all this is a great product for my family 🥰 and Im looking forward to trying out their other products. This is my 2nd or 3rd time buying it on here and the first time my package was delayed 2 days. Just something to think about if you have a big trip coming.

I am very happy i found this Mineral SPF. After finding out i am pregnant I had to change a lot of my cosmetics and I was struggling to find a good sunscreen that doesn't make my makeup look cakey. It is light-weigh and can look a bit oily on it’s own but it performs great under makeup, I highly recommend it if you are looking for pure mineral SPF that is safe during pregnancy and for your baby.

He visto que dermatólogos recomiendan protectores solares tipo minerales (como este) para pieles acneicas, pero en lo personal, a mi piel no le cayó. Tengo piel mixta (zona t grasa, mejillas normales y bozo seco), así que si tienes este tipo de piel o no has probado protectores solares minerales te recomiendo no usarlo porque está muy pesado para nuestro tipo de piel. Lo ocuparía más para piel del cuello, que ocupa un extra de hidratación y protección.

Quite thick and feels a bit oily. Smell wasn't very strong. Able to use for daily use. Might leave a white cast if not spread evenly.

I'm love with this sunscreen for my kids. Clean and stays on for a good amount of time.

First time buying this product from this store although I have repurchased the same product from other stores before where it doesnt have much of a smell. This product does not smell the same and has a strong smell.
