Kids loved it
I read aloud to the kids at bedtime and they really liked this engaging story. They also loved the Rush Revere series which I highly recommend. This one helped them expand their vocabulary.

great book...a little slow
This was a great book that I read aloud to my son. As many classics, the story moves a little more slowly as each sentence is very descriptive. There are many old words that we no longer use, but it is helpful that there is a glossary in the back that lists most of those words along with a definition. All in all it was an enjoyable read and besides the obvious fictional elements and artistic license in conversations, etc...it was very neat to learn about the actual historical events that took place from this perspective. We are currently reading Ben & Me, and so far we prefer this over Mr. Revere and I, so if you are trying to decide between the two, I would suggest Ben & Me (as at least for an 8 year old boy), it is a little bit sillier and the humor is slightly more obvious.

One of the best, most fun and wonderful stories ... a must read
One of the best tales of life during the pre-Revolutionary War days, and what the Sons of Liberty were doing in Boston and the area. Plenty of humor, some of it very subtle -- especially in the beginning chapters. The voice of the book, the "I", is a wonderful horse named Scheherazade, who moves to the American colonies with a British regiment, and later, after some poor decisions by the human she serves, and hardship, finds herself in the world of Paul Revere. This is one of the best introductions to 18th C. American history and what led up to the beginning of the Revolutions that is available for young people today (and has been for many years). Lots of fun for adults, as well, so it's basically an almost perfect book for the grownups to read to children before bedtime. Precocious readers could likely handle it by age eight yrs or so. Totally engrossing, and beautifully written.

“Is that Mr. Adams with my pound of tea?”
A rousing account of Paul Revere’s horse and the guy who rode her. Perfect illustrations help punctuate the action. I can’t vouch for the historical accuracy, but if it wasn’t this way, it should have been.

Robert Lawson turned into a horse and sent back in time
Mr. Revere & I is about Paul Revere and the rebellious adventures and missions that he goes on, all written from his horse's perspective. It includes how the horse's friend becomes her enemy and the TRUE story of what happened on Paul's midnight ride. In it, you will also experience some humor, especially Paul Revere's mom and her over-the-top love for tea. If you are learning about the Revolutionary War and how it started, this would be a great book to read. This book has a great ending as well, very happy, and I think you'll enjoy it very much.

A history and horse lover's delightful story.,
This is just as delightful as his tale of the mouse who resided in Ben Franklin's hat. Anyone who has children to take on a walk to Revere's house in Boston, or a visit to the historic sites in Lexington, Ma, e.g. should have a copy of this book with which to entertain both themselves and the children after.

Wonderful
My two elementary aged daughters and I read this as a read-a-loud to augment our spine in history. Written from the horses perspective, you get a surprising personal account of what both sides (the British/Tories and the Colonial/Rebels/Americans) may have been like, and how patriotism can be expressed. A wonderful read. We also LOVE Robert Lawson's Rabbit Hill and The Tough Winter!
