Excellent product,
-:Build:-• Very sturdy, some user said that this is flimsier than the normal U3. This is not the case as it is not bendy or anything.• Lightweight at 1.1kg.-:Performance:-• Ran Furmark GPU stress test on my Lenove Ideapad y510p SLI + a CPU stress test for 20 mins concurrently.• Temps were lowered by 5-10°C and my CPU and GPUs did not thermal throttle.• Went from 100°C+ to the 90s under full GPU+CPU stress on all sensors, so gaming performance is guaranteed to perform at least as well.• I was afraid that the low CFM (compared to other fans) wouldn't cut it, but being able to position the fans exactly where I wanted to strategically improved my performance.-:Sound:-• Fans are relatively silent, much more silent than my laptop fans at full throttle. Of course I do not recommend having them at 100% for non-intensive tasks as they become annoying. I keep them on the lowest settings when not gaming/rendering.-:Connectivity:-• Plugging the fan controller into the USB slot does not occupy that USB slot since the USB lead also acts as a USB port, with a wire running off from the side to power the fans/controller.• These fans and their controller are rated at USB 2.0 power levels so there is no advantage on wasting a USB 3.0 port on these.-:Comfort:-• Having the laptop raised increased my typing comfort substantially. I know this isn't specific to this product but I've never used a laptop cooler so it was a surprise.• There are no parts interfering with my hand movement.-:Cons:-• If there is one negative aspect of this product, it must be the USB connector. The wire runs off the side and it does not play well with adjacent USB ports as it blocks them.Overall, excellent product and confirms what is to be expected by CoolerMaster.

Smartly designed; very very good for the price!
Use this with my HP Pavillion G7 17" and it is very good at reducing the core temp quickly. I use the laptop for gaming and editing and the cooler master means I can work/play for longer without worrying about overheating. I monitored the temps over a week with/without the fans and the difference was incredible: 60-70 degrees Celsius minimum without the tray and 35-45 degrees Celsius with it.The aluminium frame dissipates heat quickly and the fans themselves are powerful, without being especially loud. The rubber grips have not detached or frayed at all in 3.5 years of solid use and the fan clips also still give the same performance, holding the fans tightly against the tray and preventing vibration. They're very easy to adjust or remove, and also easy to clean. This product is fantastic at what it does and for a very decent price, couldn't be happier.

Excellent, but with an odd power-on quirk
Excellent laptop cooler. The adjustable fan positioning means you can get the airflow exactly where your laptop gets warm, or where the airvents are.It has a big range of fan speeds on a smooth speed dial (not position 1,2 etc - the dial rolls around to exactly where you want) and it's pretty quiet on the slowest one, quieter than if the laptop fan comes on. On high it does sound like a desk fan going!I've not tried gaming with it yet, but for regular use the laptop fan never comes on with the cooler on the slowest setting. For size, it's a perfect fit for my 15.6" Lenovo Thinkpad P50. The laptop fits just within the metal grille, with the frame around it. A bigger laptop would seem balanced on top of the cooler. If the airvents were on the edges the main airflow zone wouldn't be in the right place to do much good. It would also be really awkward if the rubber feet were off the grille for a bigger laptop - you want that height for the airflow, and it wants to slide around a bit as it is. I'm not an expert, but it makes sense to me that the laptop isn't sticking out off the edge of the cooler. So I'd say perfect for 15.6", fully within the airflow grille. 17" should sit with the feet nicely on the frame around the grille, but I don't see how it would work for a 19" machine. There is one really odd feature, which is why I knocked off a star from 5*. If I leave it plugged in and switch the computer on, it doesn't come on when the laptop is switched on, then when I switch the laptop off the cooler fan starts working! (If laptop mains power lead is plugged in.) It starts up immediately if it's unplugged and I put the USB lead in. The way round this is that every time I switch the laptop on, I turn the cooler fan speed dial up and the fan comes on, then I can turn it down to minimum speed again. It's a bit of a nuisance, having to remember to switch it on in that way each time. But I don't mind too much, it's still decent equipment and I like it.

Great product, even better with another fan.
The NotePal U2 PLUS is one the best laptop cooler on the market I think. Is light, and with a minimal design. The original fans (2x 80mm fan) are very weak though, it's hard to feel the air moved even if you've got them in your hand. The best solution is to use other fans. There are two options:1- To use one or two normal 12v 120mm fans, with an adaptor from 12v to 5v usb. By the time you buy all the material, it is quite expensive.2- To use one or two 120mm 5v fans. The Noctua 5v fans for example are great and already come with the usb cable. For mine, I'm using the Noctua NF-F12 5V, which moves a lot of air even if it's a bit more noisy than the two original one (they are not noisy as they basically don't move any air at all).I've got a Surface Laptop 3 that gets quite hot when I'm using it with two external monitors and photoshop while charging it. Because the aluminium body of the laptop works as an heatsink, this solution is great to keep it cooler.
