I have 7 of these in my house with another on the way. They are easy to operate and assemble. They put out a lot of bright light from top or bottom or both at the same time. One shade of the light is like traditional incandescent the other shade is like sunshine. - Stability - tighten, tighten, tighten. Make sure you screw all the pieces together firmly. I stood on the base and twisted the tubes until there was no more slack. Stability on all of them is comparable to my other two LED lamps from different brands. Unless you have kids wanting to swing on them as they run around a corner, they won't fall over. - Touch Switches - My mom could not get these things to turn on or off and would only use the remote. I have never had a problem. After a little testing I found that she was doing long presses and I was doing short tap presses. Then I tried long presses and sure enough the switches wouldn't work. Some touch switches require short presses and others long, all of the ones I have require short presses. So if you have trouble turning them on or off at the pole, then try short quick taps. - Remotes are perfect - they are magnetic and stick right to the light pole. They are easy to pair or unpair. Make sure only the one you are pairing to is plugged in, then pair, then unplug before pairing the next. - 1 hour timers - I don't even know how that works, but I don't care because I have no reason to use it. I was worried when I bought these that they would turn off constantly like other reviewers had mentioned. Mine have never automatically turned off. One day I might read more of the manual and figure out how the timer works in case I ever accidentally enable it, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Outon - Don't you disappear.
