Turmeric vs Curcumin vs Curcuminoid?
If you are reading this you know that the market is filled with turmeric/curcumin products, and it is confusing as heck! I would strongly encourage anyone interested in taking these supplements to first do some research - it is helpful to know what the benefits are, and specifically what components provide those benefits. Marketers don’t help much. I am relatively new to turmeric products and have done a bit of research and I will try to provide a little info to help provide some guidance, and maybe to help you fine tune your research: Turmeric is a food/spice, and has benefits to it, including anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, as well as potentially helping to lower cholesterol. Curcuminoids consist of three specific compounds, and make up only ~5% of the turmeric - and of that amount, ~75% is curcumin. What all this means is you need to pay close attention to the ingredients to know whether it is ‘turmeric’ or ‘curcuminoids’ or ‘curcumin’... they are not the same thing, although they are related, and ultimately it is sort of an exercise in math: 100% turmeric equals approx 5% curcuminoids, which equals approx. 4% curcumin (rough estimates for discussion purposes). To achieve the benefit you are looking for the dosage matters, and the dosage (and best way to get it) depends on your specific need. The dosage to aid in antifungal or antibacterial situations is very different than the dosage to aid with joint pain. So, ultimately, it isn’t necessarily the case that any specific product is ‘good’ or ‘bad’, but whether it is the right product, with the right ‘ingredients’ to address your specific issue. For my specific purposes I am looking for joint pain relief, and as a result, I need to take a relatively high amount of curcumin. Typically curcumin is not as readily absorbable as some compounds, and usually black pepper, or bioperene extracts, are added to add in absorption. This product does not have black pepper extracts. While it does taut the bioavailability of the curcuminoids, I have found little benefit from the recommended dosage of one capsule/day. I have upped it to two/day and there is some benefit, but I am thinking I may need to up it to 3 to see if there is any additional benefit. If I need to take 3 capsules per day, then this becomes a very expensive product (not to mention, my strong preference not to have to take 3 capsules per day - would much prefer a single capsule). So, for that reason this product is not as effective as I had hoped it might be. I should add that another reason I take turmeric supplements if for the potential cholesterol benefit... and it is possible that this may be great for that purpose (I have my bloodwork done in a couple of weeks, so I will know then). I think this product is a good product, but if your specific reason for taking it is for joint pain relief, then know that the benefits seem pretty weak with the recommended dosage, and you will likely need to increase the dosage. On a positive note, the capsules have no taste and I have had no stomach issues taking it. I hope this review is helpful to you, and if so, let me know by clicking ‘Helpful’... I will try to update after my bloodwork to see how it has impacted my cholesterol...

"Early results are promising"...
I have been taking Turmeric for my grade three (3) osteoarthritis of the knee, GERD, and possible cholesterol benefits for a few months now. I have seen significant improvements in the joint pain for the knee and GERD/stomach issues but can’t speak to the cholesterol until I do a yearly physical sometime this year. This company seemed to have a good reputation and while I didn’t fully understand the scientific jargon on their site listing, I figured it was worth a try. Truth-be-told, math was my worst subject in school and science was second worst. The REVIEW:CAPSULE – I prefer capsules to pills which seem to show better absorption rates with supplements/meds; 1 pill at 300 MG is the recommended dosagePACKAGING/LABELING – all clear and quality indicative of a well-made product; I like that it is made in the USARESULTS – I used it daily and during those days I had LIGHT knee joint pain leaning toward moderate pain. It seemed to do a fine job in keeping pain down, but I am considering going to two pills if I ever hit a moderate pain level as one pill doesn’t give me the impression it will be enough. If I had to move to taking 2 pills frequently, the VALUE would go way down given the price shown today. My gut does feel good and in combination with my daily PPI medication taken I am having no issues there. I will update this review if my blood work at my yearly physical shows that Turmeric is having an impact on my cholesterol since it is the only thing I have added in the past year towards managing cholesterol.

Low dosage of turmeric, no black pepper for absorption
I have been taking turmeric for over a year now and have 100% absolutely noticed major differences in my joint pain. So, if you are on the fence about trying turmeric, take the plunge! The changes are NOT instant but over time (several months), my persistent joint pain has been greatly reduced. They do not work like pain relievers so please don't think that you can take one capsule daily and get instant pain relief! They definitely don't work that way.The capsules are gel coated and easy to swallow. They are standard in size. No issues there. They also don't have a super strong, offensive "spice" taste like some other turmeric supplements.I wish the dosage was higher. The turmeric that I normally take is at least 500 mg per capsule. (twice daily) I only get 300 mg of "TurmiPure Gold Turmeric Extract" which seems considerably less. However, the description claims that it "delivers more curcuminoids in the blood with 300mg (1 capsule) of TurmiPure Gold than 1,500mg of turmeric 95%" so it is a bit confusing. The absence of black pepper also makes me wonder how well these are actually being abosrbed?I have been taking these for almost a month now and my joint pain has not returned. Even though the serving size is 1 capsule, I decided to up it to 2 capsules to meet my personal needs. So far, so good! :)
