It will freak you out more often than bringing you peace of mind
This sock is a great concept, the execution is pretty good. Unfortunately, to be efficient, it should be near perfect. And it is not.For the owlet's 3rd generation sock, volume cannot be adjusted, sound cannot be turned off, light cannot be dimmed. The base station's alarm seldom goes off for no reason, or is simply caused by connection issues between the sock and the base station. After a few hours of use, our baby must have kicked or moved the sock, the base station's loud alarm went off, the app flashed a red warning "Low Oxygen Level".The baby is perfectly fine, this product is just not always reliable. If you worry about your baby's health, this device could potentially increase your anxiety.

Creates more sleepless nights- FALSE ALARMS
Not impressed whatsoever. In fact, I’m rather annoyed with this product. What was supposed to help give me peace of mind with our newborn has done nothing more than exacerbate anxiety and interrupt what little sleep I get. No matter how I position the dock on my baby’s foot, the alarm keeps going off all night long; indicating the sock isn’t positioned properly and it can’t get a good reading. It’s gone off four times since I started typing this review and 20+ times since I started using it a few hours ago. Would love to return it considering the price.UPDATE 12/15/20: We have been using the sock every night for more than a month at this point. In the past two weeks, we had two “red” alerts; the first indicating baby’s heart rate dropped below 60 bpm and, one week later, the second indicating heart rate was below 60bpm and oxygen dropped below 80%. Both times, I had just finished nursing baby and she was in my arms, wide awake, looking completely fine. Pediatrician said the rapid decrease on the monitor was a false alarm, as true bradycardia events would be gradual. Confidence in accuracy of this is low but we continue to use it, waging it is better to be safe than sorry.

As a doctor, I regret my purchase — defective, false alarms, horrible design.
Out of curiosity and an abundance of time (I have the luxury of being on maternity leave for 23 weeks), I went through to see how much my husband and I had spent in anticipation of our baby’s arrival: just over $17,000 USD so far. Of that, the Owlet is the single worst item we purchased, and it is our biggest regret. We attempted to use this for the first 2 weeks of our baby’s life. It alerted more than 5 times a night on average — lost connection (it was 4 feet from the base?!), high heart rate (baby was actively crying, but I took his heart rate manually with a stethoscope, and it was within Owlet’s preset normal range), low oxygen (baby was pink and had an O2 sat of 98%).Worst of all: several times during these alerts, we were unable to see what the actual “emergency” was on the app because of the “Rate Our App” pop-up. We couldn’t bypass the pop-up to see what the alert was unless/unless we rated the app. This is a horrific and dangerous flaw.

Great for peace of mind
We are using the sock on our 11-week old and are loving the peace of mind that the overnight monitoring brings.I'm a first-time mom, and for the first 10 weeks after we brought baby home, during the short 2-3 hour stretches during the night that I could have theoretically rested because baby was asleep in her crib, I found myself frequently waking up/ sitting up to check on baby. As she's started to sleep for longer stretches (now usually 8-10 hours overnight between feeds, woohoo!), I really wanted to be able to lay down and rest without the constant urge to look over to see her chest rise and fall. A few friends had recommended the Owlet, so we took the plunge!Setup was a breeze for both the app and basestation, and as soon as the sock is synced it's ready to use. Getting the sock placed the first time was a little bit challenging on a wiggly baby foot, but the guides in the app have helpful step-by-step instructions and videos to figure that out. Our baby sleeps with the sock on under footie pajamas and in a swaddle; initially I was concerned that if baby moved too much during the night and rubbed the sock against her pajamas/swaddle, we would receive alarms from the Owlet saying that the sock shifted and couldn't get a good reading. That hasn't actually happened yet, so I'm happy to report that the device seems to stay put as long as you place it correctly and snug.Battery life is great (it's always reported as 16 hours minimum after a full charge) and we have the base station set up on our night stand so it's easy to drop the sock in to charge after getting baby up in the morning. We're not expecting the Owlet to be a medical device (it's not!), but just knowing that the alarm will sound if baby's heart rate/oxygen levels drift to outside the "safe" range" makes me feel like I have an extra set of eyes on baby and allows me to actually rest once baby is down for the night. I would 100% recommend to any other first-time parents out there, or anyone who might be looking for extra peace of mind while baby is sleeping!

Piece of mind
We have spent the last month in the nicu and seeing the monitors there and what can happen with the babies heart rate and oxygen levels is scary. So when we brought home our babies it was just the extra security we needed to help us sleep. Thank you!

Needs improvements
Nicely packaged, socks are lovely and soft, easy to fit even on a 4lb baby. However upon using, it did throw up a few questions that I asked the owlet team about. Firstly, I wondered how to turn off notifications, myself and my partner do shifts with the newborn so we don't disturb our toddler, so we both have the owlet app our phones, there is no way of turning off notifications through the app, you need to turn the notifications off through your actual phone settings, not the end of the world but still a pain. Secondly, and more worryingly for me personally, I asked the question 'if we perhaps had a power cut overnight, would the sock still continue monitoring baby and send us alerts through the phone without the base on?' no, no it will not. For me, this isn't good enough, it's basic technology, doesn't need much to have a bit of backup power in the base in case of things like this happening. I think if you're going to pay through the nose for babies safety then you want the best. Still, puts my mind at ease a hell of a lot more than having nothing though!!

For a peace of mind
All good so far. We bought this for a peace of mind. Depends on your baby, our child is a wriggler so have moved the sock out of position a few times and the base alarms- shows it works but also can be frightening. We are still checking our child’s breathing through the night however less with the Owlet on so getting a better night’s sleep as new parents. It is an expensive item but worth it for a bit of security. You can never 100% trust technology so we’re not overly hung up with the stats unless if there are anything out of the ordinary. All depends on the main reason you personally want to purchase this type of monitor for.Currently having problems with the sleep/awake markers and the tech support have been responding so hopefully will be sorted soon.

Great for parents of reflux/breathing issue babies or just anxious parents
I originally didn't think we would be using the Owlet sock much and for the first 3 weeks or so we didn't use it at all. However, our little one had a bad case of silent reflux which resulted in a lot of throat discomfort and breathlessness periods in the early days and then later in coughing fits once he had developed some defence mechanisms. The Owlet sock has let both of us sleep about 15% more because on the days when his breathing sounds odd or laboured, I'm able to check the owlet data to make sure it's just a strange noise rather than something affecting his oxygen levels. This means I'm able to fall asleep and I don't wake him up to change his position either so double win! There are a couple of negative points however:+ You can't get readings from the sock without the base station. This means that if your wi-fi is down or more importantly, if you're out of the house, the sock is unusable. This is the biggest downside for me because the position that babies are in when they are in car seats is constricting to the chest area so it would be particularly useful on car journeys, especially longer ones.+ If your baby is a wriggler, likes to grab his feet or generally rub them together, you're going to get a bunch of 'false' warnings from the base station because the sock is moved out of place - the most annoying part about this is that the notification from the base station is loud enough to wake up the baby!+ The base station wasn't super obvious to set up but I messaged customer service over the chat in the app and they helped straight away. For us, the peace of mind was ultimately very much worth the hefty price tag. But if we'd had a baby with no reflux/breathing issues, I probably would have used it for a couple of days and then forgotten about it.

Great peace of mind
I bought this for my daughter so the feedback I can provide is as a buyer but not the user of the product. My daughter recently gave birth to her first child. She was feeling anxious about the baby's vital signs, so I bought this product for her. It arrived as advertised (within 2 days) and she immediately started using it. It has given her peac of mind and seems thoroughly satisfied and happy with the product.

Worth the buy
Yes bit naughty how expensive it is because people like me will buy it!However best thing I’ve brought, great for piece of mind my little one is used to wearing it and doesn’t bother her, battery lasts for a good 18hrs and charges quite quickly, and absolutely the best thing about it is, if your WiFi is down it still works, twice now I have been without WiFi and all that doesn’t work is the app.
