Is the surface of this mat smooth? I want to be able to slide my monitor and keyboard easlily.

It's got a pebble finish but you shouldn't have trouble sliding a keyboard. There's probably not enough room for a monitor and keyboard. I also find that it slides around my desk. A bit annoying.

Has anyone else experienced a weird odor? I just inboxed mine and the smell is giving me horrible headaches...

I'm on day two after placing it on the desk last night. I got a headache last night and now I'm starting to get a headache again. I will let it sit outdoors in the sun for a day to see if that helps. If not, I won't be able to use this thing.

No! Acetone will ruin it. I know because I ruined a vinyl bench removing nail polish from my toes. Yes, it was acetone, not regular nail polish. But I wouldn’t let any nail polish touch my desk pad.

Will it stick to the wood desk top when temperature is high (like in summer) and damage the wood?

Highly doubtful! These are great quality I have not noticed anything that would lead me to believe it would have some issue like that. I have Air Conditioning and that keeps the humidity down so that would be impossible, but even in a humid environment I think these would do well. I hope this helps.
