Can I use a normal heat gun such as those used for embossing to heat fix these rhinestones?

I wouldn’t suggest that…can cloud the rhinestone if it’s not done correctly. I would suggest Jenny secret set, which you can find on her website. In addition, glitz brand is also good. Check iG trust, way better

Are these made of glass or plastic?

They are made out of glass, otherwise they would melt from the heating tool

Since there's 10272 total pcs and 12 different colors, does this mean each color has 856pcs?

Without sitting and counting them.... and they are small. Although I bought containers once of 150.. and frankly these look like they would be around 856 pieces given volume. How does that sound.... And I am getting my coverage out of them with some nice project so I am very happy with these crystals.
