Loved it
Wow a birch tom from Yamaha at this price is amazing. The quality and style are top notch but the sound is also in another level.

Great drums for the price with a few updates
This review is for the 12” rack Tom, 14” floor and 20” kick, all in natural finish. While overall very happy with the construction and sound of the Birch shells, I made the following updates: lubed up the lugs (Latin Percussion makes a great lube), and changed out the flimsy stock heads (Emperor batters, clear Ambassador resonants on the toms, and Evans EMAD2 on the kick, my personal taste). Added nylon sleeved tension Rod washers for better tuning and less metal on metal, and upgraded the hoops to 2.3mm for more mass. The result is a great sounding, responsive and gig-worthy kit. Still a bargain even after the updates!

Sounds great for the money, good quality
Beautiful, great quality hardware. Sounds great. The spiked feet are a little weird, the rubber comes off easily during transport leaving a floor killer lol.

Nice tone
I have a 5-piece set of Emerald Green Stage Customs that came with a 14" floor tom. It was somewhat wimpy for a floor tom, but I lived with it for several years. I recently expanded my setup and bought this one, along with a MT-TT tom mount and a CL-940BW ball clamp so I could mount it to my rack. That mount would probably hold it, but I keep one of the original legs on the 16" floor tom down, just to stabilize it on the far end. This drum sounds great - just the extra thump I was looking for in the kit! Only wish it was the same emerald green as the rest of my set. At least it lives behind the other drums, so probably few will notice the color difference. Yamaha quality!
