Great drive, tutorial on what to do after you install the ssd, in the review.
(For people that install the drive and freak out because they don't see it in files explorer, there will a tutorial for you down below)(Your new SSD doesn't have a file system, so Windows really doesn't know how to communicate with it. So we have to initialize the drive, we are gonna assign a file system that Windows can understand. To do this, it's really simple. Just go ahead and right-click on the Windows icon and go up to Disk Management. This will pop up the Disk Management Utility, and if you just installed a drive like i did, you'll see this little window here that says Initialize. In here, we can go ahead and select our partition style. We're going to want to use GPT. This is going to be pretty much for any modern computer or a modern drive, and click OK. And just by doing that, there's now a partitioning system that Windows can use to actually communicate with the device, but it still doesn't show up here. Well, that's because we haven't formatted the drive or assigned it a drive letter. So to do that, it's pretty simple. All we got to do is right click in this unallocated space area, click new simple volume, and this will pop up the new simple volume wizard. Here we can click next. Next again, this will do the full size of the drive automatically. And then we're going to assign it the letter D. Click next. And then we can name it whatever we want and click next one more time and click finish. This will go ahead and format the drive. And if we now check in File Explorer, we'll now see that our data drive shows two terabytes (or whatever size you bought) of free space).Great reliable, fast and cheap drive.

seems good
Pros: it works, as advertisedCons: it looks plain?Speeds always vary by workload but in a quick test I did for this review, I got 6.9GB/s read and 5.9 write (sequential). For average gaming use, I don't think the lack of DRAM cache is a big deal now that HMB is widely supported. I certainly don't notice any of the typical pre-HMB DRAM-less SSD issues.Of drives I have on-hand, WD SN770 is most comparable. Performance wise, the MP44Q is newer and faster, but in practice they aren't really notably different. Warranty is the same at 5yrs. WD rates slightly higher endurance (1200TBW vs. 1000TBW) but I don't think this is a meaningful differentiator in this product class.I buy a lot of drives, Teamgroup products seem average reliability wise. I've done RMA's with just about every major storage brand. I recently did an RMA for a different Teamgroup drive and it was relatively painless, you pretty much just fill out a form and mail it in. confident in recommending this drive/brand.

Excellent economic 1/2 TB SSD, good for multipurpose PC. Cheap, good enough for regular operations.
For what the 512 GB, 1/2 TB, 3.0x4 is designed, to be inexpensive and to work right for a regular multipurpose PC, these "little sticks of gum" are doing their job. I put these into 2 of my PCs that I am giving away, both of which are otherwise very powerful. Purpose being to remove all my data. In each, they seamlessly functioned as clean. And easy installation of windows. Something about a 4 TB 5.0x4 makes installation difficult, and those are for hot setups. So later on when the ladies I gifted these PCs to want to increase or "raid" them, they can do so easily, and won't need to install windows into their bigger faster SSDs.I know, the 3.0x4 go fast for awhile, then slow down a little, then fast again. That's not an instability. It's what 3.0s do. So, these do well and as expected. They were inexpensive, take windows easily. I like.

current go to ssd. Quality and price is great.
This has been my go to ssd drive lately. Its reliable and fast.I use these mostly in external ssd enclosures.I do have one in my PC running windows as my boot drive.Sleek design with no fuss. Literally plug and play (ok minus formatting, but you shouldnt buy this if you dont know about formatting, unless youre buying pc parts for someone else to put together)Have not had any compatibility issues.Speed has remained consistent and stable. I can move data from this ssd to my pc fast, and move data from my pc to this ssd fast.As i said these are my current go to. Price to quality its golden. I really enjoy team group items to begin with. Wuality is top notch and ive noticed their defective items to non defective items is smaller then most other companies ive seen. (Read - their quality control is top notch)

Do it!
If you’re worried about swapping out your ssd on your steam deck don’t be. It’s super easy to swap out and even easier to flash steamOS on the new one. I now have 3tb of storage total in my sd card. It works perfectly and helps download and transfer files go by super fast. I’d recommend this for the steam deck and ally x or any other handheld PCs!

Once installed works great, but...
My slight problem with this drive was installing it. Not cause I didn't know how, but wasn't sent and anchor screw with the drive. Also no instructions on how to install came with the box. Simply just the drive and the box pointing to the teamgroup website. Took me a bit to navigate the site to find the warranty info as well. Lucky I have a box of mixed computer screws and was able to anchor down the drive. Once installed and initialized works great and am happy with the performance.

Worth every penny
Pretty fast and reliable. Easy to use and format. I'm using it in an external enclosure and it is doing just fine. Zero compatibility issues on my end. 100% would recommend to anyone.
