Delicious!
This was really good! The sodium content wasn't as high as I would have thought, and it did taste a little salty, but that's to be expected. It was flaky and delicious.

I am so glad I found this smoked salmon
This smoked salmon is so amazingly delicious! Great for snacks when company shows up unexpectedly! Or just as a quick meal!

Do not buy this salmon!
Not what I expected. I've had salmon from Washington State and from Alaska, but never had salmon that looked so bad and tasted so bad. This salmon went to my dogs and cats. Not truly edible for people. It was more like salmon jerky (with skin still attached). The oil it was packed in reminded me of the Grizzly Salmon Oil that I give to my dogs. There was very little edible salmon in this package. It was dark, hard and not eexcepatble for human consumption (unless I needed to save it for emergency rations). I truly love salmon, and have grown up eating pickled salmon, baked salmon, lox and have even had whole salmon that was cooked on the bar-b-cue in Alaska, and whole salmon that was smoked in Seattle. This salmon looked like the leftover parts of the salmon after a bear catches a salmon swimming upstream!

Two very different best by dates
I have purchased this salmon before and liked it very much (it is hard smoked salmon, not Lox). This order was different. I was very surprised to see a best by date on the outside of the box that was over 4 years from now. That seems a bit long for a food product, especially fish. But then I checked the inner pouch and it had a best by date that was 2 years earlier (see pictures). Further, the last order had an inner pouch made of foil (as indicated in the product description) but this one was in a clear plastic pouch. I have not opened the salmon and tried it yet, and it may be just fine, but the conflicting best by dates and non-standard packaging are very worrisome. Update: I contacted the company, and they were very nice. They explained that there supply issues for the foil pouches, and for some batches they used regular plastic pouches instead. They said the date on the box was an error, and that the date on the pouch inside was correct. I tried the salmon, and it was very good.

Tasty
A delicious treat to enjoy on crackers. Has a delightful smoked flavor, the odor is even bearable. Would like a bit more with the cost, but salmon has gone up.

Not good as a gift, shipped in an envelope that assures a crushed box. The fish was decent though.
Don't order as a gift as these are shipped in a bubble envelope. Mine had a 3" ripped corner and looked like it had been walked on repeatedly...probably just constantly smashed against boxes on its journey. The product itself was fair to good. The skin is left on, there's a little more oil than expected, had a firm texture. and mine had some tough pieces probably because I got the tail end, and the meat is thin in that area. It also tasted good with a decent smoke flavor, but I've had better for sure.

Good stuff, but I still prefer Seabear
I adore smoked Alaskan salmon. I even get cravings for it, lol. This was pretty inexpensive as far as smoked salmon goes, so I decided to give it a try. I normally get Seabear. The quality of this brand is very comparable, though I still prefer Seabear to this - with Seabear, I feel like I can taste the wild, but with this, that "wild" flavor isn't nearly as intense. If you're raising an eyebrow at me right now, I don't mind, lol. I grew up with fresh seafood. I can taste anything and often tell whether it came from the ocean, a farm, a river, etc. I think the reason this taste is so different from Seabear is due to fishing in different waters. It's slight, so I'm guessing most folks won't be able to tell the difference. A real seafood fan with sensitive tastes will, though. Seabear tastes more like deep ocean; this is more mild, and I'm guessing it was caught somewhere where the salt water isn't as concentrated, like maybe the mouth of a river. Either way, it's good fish, and I wasn't able to make it last! Lol! Try it out with some black garlic spread on top, and you'll be in pure salmon heaven!
