This hose reel seems solid and works well so I gave it a five star rating. It works well and seems like it will hold up well. I've only had it a week so I can't speak to its longevity.The one down side of this thing is that it is a tricky to put together. I say this as someone who loves Lego sets and has assembled scads of flat packed furniture and children's toys without any problems. The instructions are vague and the pieces fit together in such a way that it is almost impossible to get them apart once you slot them together.No big deal right? Wrong. If you do not follow the instructions EXACTLY, specifically the exact order in which you are supposed to put the pieces together, you won't be able to finish putting the thing together and, instead, will have to spend an hour trying to get the pieces apart without breaking them so you can start over. Do not just glance at the pictures and start trying to put this thing together intuitively! Do not read over the instructions, think, "What are they even talking about? This seems like vague gibberish." and decide to just slap the pieces together based on the picture on the front of the box. Take the time to figure out the instructions and follow them exactly.So, if you are considering buying this hose reel, go for it. It seems like a great deal for the money. But when you are ready to assemble the thing follow the assembly instructions exactly or you will have a very bad time.

I have a 100' hose on the spool and noticed it was sagging today. The spool was snapped in half. It isn't even a year old...

I owned one of these for about 10 years before it finally gave up the ghost but it did its job so well I replaced it with the same product. Bonus: Didn't even need to remove the screws from the wall! As far as assembly, the instructions are poorly written and seem out of order possibly because they are written in 3 languages. Why the manufacturer doesn't write instructions assembly as Step 1,2,3, etc. is beyond me. Would also suggest they emphasize that parts must be installed in a certain order. What should have taken 15 minutes at best to slap together took over an hour because I had to pull it apart twice and it ain't easy. And this is coming from someone who had already owned one. Final suggestion, take the instructions and sit down with your favorite beverage and carefully go over them before you take the first part out of the box.

As long as you look at the parts closely, assembly is a breeze. It's like a lego set with a couple of parts. Once assembled, the mount world really well. I have it attached to the cedar siding of our house and have a 100 ft hose on it. I have no complaints about the performance. Easy to wind and the hose comes out easily when I am walking into my lawn.

Excellent for what I was looking for. The instructions are a little confusing but the finished product works well.

Failed in less than one year. Leaks out the hose inlet side probably due to a bad seal but I don't know. Main use for this is washing the car and watering flowers with a 50 foot Goodyear hose. I haven't taken it taken it apart to see whats wrong yet because I'm hoping that the 3 year warranty will replace it, but according to the website it looks,like they just send parts to replace the defective ones. Honestly my time is to valuable to mess around with a cheap hose reel. We will see.... I did do my homework but i did not want to spend alot. I picked this on this one because it had OK reviews for my price range. At 40 dollars I was not expecting much. It was brought in during the winter so it did not freeze. I did recently buy a strongway hose reel for the back of the house and at 150 dollars I must say it is quite a nice reel thats quality built out of aluminum with a 10 year warranty. If your tired of throwing these things in the garbage I recommend shelling out the 150 and be done with it.

Like most things made of plastic, I doubt I get many years of service out of it. But it does work, and more importantly--does not leak.I deducted one star because of the thin plastic. I just wish they would use thicker/sturdier plastic, or make them out of metal. I'm so concerned that someone is going to break the plastic mounts, that I used washers at the attachment points hoping that this will distribute the load a little better.Another deduct for the aggravation snapping this thing together. The instructions are OK, but could be better. I had a very difficult time snapping some of these together--even using the recommended rubber hammer.

Assembly and mounting was extremely simple, just follow the directions! I used someone else's recommendation and added some washers where the screws meet the plastic mounting bracket in hopes of getting a more secure mount. Worked like a charm, I recommend using the washers. I have a 100 ft hose reeled up and it fits just right.I am curious to see how the plastic holds up to the South Florida sun and rain. Will do a follow up review.

Nice unit, assembles easily and works well.

Great product.. but not without its issues...The frame is plastic (slightly flimsy) so worried about it breaking... Plus, where the screws go through the frame to hold up the reel, there should be some kind of reinforcement in the plastic to help secure

Used very lightly and properly - still broke after just three months of use. Waste of $100. Do not purchase.
