Don't Hesitate.
This mattress (as I sit with my legs sprawled across it) inspired me to write my first online review in probably two years (I can get a bit lazy, hence the leg sprawling). I recently graduated from college; moving out of my parents' place and supporting myself and being a contributing member of society and other dumb stuff like that apparently come along with this. So, I moved to my own apartment, and for the first time in my life, had to purchase a bed. As a 22-year-old moving to Chicago to go to grad school with nearly no money, I was thinking cheap. But I had been told that "cheap" is a relative term when you're looking for mattresses; most of my friends had payed upwards of 400 bucks for a "cheap" box spring/mattress set. Thankfully, in a twist of fate, I went to Amazon and searched "mattress." Lo and behold, there's a 180-dolla (sorry folks, price has increased since I bought it) mattress, just sitting there, all like "Hey! Look at me! I'm a mattress! On Amazon.com! Yep! The same site you buy overpriced protein powder and used Stephen King books from!" Needless to say, I did a little research and found the catch I was looking for: it comes shrink-wrapped, rolled up in a duffel bag. "Ummm...yeah, no," I thought. But, just for fun, I went to YouTube and searched something along the lines of "video of unwrapping bed that comes wrapped in plastic that you have to cut open and it inflates itself." After watching a video or two, I was astonished to see that they really do magically turn into a soft-yet-firm, fluffy, plush, bouncy lil' mattress. With the added benefit of knowing I'd be able to watch it inflate before my very eyes, I ordered. After about a month and a half of sitting, sleeping, studying, reading, lounging, laughing, crying (I watched Titanic while laying on it, so sue me), and sulking because I have strep throat on this mattress, I decided it's only fair for me to write a review. Let me tell ya, folks: this mattress rules. I bought the cheapest bed frame from Walmart (which, may I add, is amazing), along with a bed skirt, mattress topper, and jersey sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond, and I swear this is the best bed I've ever slept on. It's soft and bouncy enough to remind you, "Hey! Look at me! I'm a real bed! With real springs! Go ahead, bounce on me!" but it's also firm enough to be like "Hey! Look at me! I provide support for the lower back you complain to all of your friends and family about all day long! I'm not like those lousy air mattresses! Go ahead, lay down and feel my support!" Also, don't listen to the people who complain that you "fall off the side." Yes, there is no wiring around the sides of the mattress, but I sit on the edge of my bed all the time and I wouldn't have ever noticed (I'm a 185 lb male -- yes I do cry from Titanic SO SUE ME). These complaints actually made me nervous about purchasing, but honestly, it's truly negligible. There literally isn't anything I can think of to complain about with this mattress. There were no smells, it's the right size, it supports the weight of two people, the springs don't make any noise, and, most importantly of all, I've had some amazing nights' sleep on this baby. I love sleep and I'm a snob for a comfy bed; I'd highly recommend this one. Disclaimer: Bed does not actually talk.

8" Signature Sleep Mattress Hybrid (Memory Foam & Springs Combo)
Hi everyone, All I can say is WOW I'm just glad to have a nice bed to sleep on after 11+ years, it fits my old maple twin bunk bed frames too! :D Rated by K. travel: Comfort Rating: 9 of 10 Soft Rating: 8 of 10 Firm Rating: 7.5 of 10 Support Rating: 6.5 Overall: The bed is excellent for the price and quality wise earns four stars for it right there automatically and affordable pricing with Amazon Prime- gives us the final 5th star in the Amazon 5-star rating above here. I got this for 150 USD and was well worth it minus UPS's delay to ship the product on One Day Air which took way longer than it needed during the days between Christmas & New Years. Even in-spite of the shipping part of this experience it will retain a 5 star flawless rating... Thoughts: This bed is certainly firm yet softer than the firm core and spring support, so this bed will basically fit your needs- no tossing and turning through the night. I am one of the few in the world that can sleep with the lights on but as of late I have had a mouse issue that means I cannot shut my lights off in the bedroom for the time being, however I have slept noticeably better than I do on any coach or futon. The Mice in the house also oddly seem to have stayed away from this new bed while I aired it out for the 48 hour period (with one turn over in the middle) on a spring cage. Most reviewing buyers stated that 48 hours with nothing on the bed is the way to air it best, So I did that even though at 8 inches it was ready to go right then and there for me. Onto things that factor in for my use, I personally weigh about 148 pounds, 5' foot & 8.5" Inches and I am an adult of age 26 as of last August in 2014. This bed does meet what I need and its on a spring cage so it can air out far better, most reviewers tell you to place this on a "solid surface" but as long as you have a good enough solid surface to place this mattress-bed on this bed does work very well. My advice is to keep the bed light with sheets, pillows, and other accessories in order allow you to flip the bed over every 24 hours with ease if you do use a spring cage with your twin's frame to ensure longevity. You'll be naturally re-dressing and changing your sheets daily by that standard. Which isn't terrible and I was used to before when I had my last twin bed that had no springs and was mostly only batting. The old mattress was lost to a flood when I was living in the basement way back then about 12 years ago, so I had to take on the couch ever since. Finally I decided to get myself a mattress-bed worthy of sleeping on and I have effectively done that with this purchase. Also despite the fact I have to sleep with the lights on for the last two weeks with mice occasionally driving me crazy on a subconscious level, I have had excellent rest on this bed without bother from anyone- including mice but I will update when I can finally comment on getting full REM sleep with the lights off after a while. I plan on moving at the end of February so I will update before the 1st of March to note if I am getting full REM. As I will need to readjust to the lower lighting levels again... Q:] Do I recommended this mattress bed to another potential buying customer? A:] The answer to that is; YES! :) I hope this review was insightful, I wont be answering questions or reading/replying to comments in relation to this bed or post. I will be making a update later as promised though. Never fear ;)

Shocked at how comfortable this is!
I moved from Texas to Boston and sold all my furniture before the move, including my bed. I have a small car and was moving into an apartment on the second floor with a narrow staircase with a few bends - not great for trying to maneuver a mattress. I was pumped to discover that Amazon sold mattresses (and with free Prime shipping!!) and even more excited that they seemed to be reasonably priced. The mattress does come in a duffel bag that is HEAVY (well, it was heavy to me). I somehow managed to drag it upstairs by myself, but word to the wise, just get a friend/neighbor/roommate to help you, I felt pretty pathetic and almost let it go a few times. Be extremely careful cutting the layers away, things are packed pretty tightly and it's really easy to accidentally slice through too many layers! If the mattress starts to inflate before it's completely unpacked, you will have problems. I did not really have issues with the smell other people have mentioned - I noticed it, but it wasn't super strong, and it went away really fast. I've been pleasantly surprised since the first night how comfortable this is, considering the size, the price, and the delivery method! It is much firmer than I'm used to (had a pillowtop mattress for three years prior to this), but I find that I wake up much less stiff and sore than I used to. I'm a pretty light sleeper as is, but at least now when I wake up it's because of light or noise and not because I'm uncomfortable. I took an extra comforter I had lying around and put it underneath my fitted sheet, and that adds just a little extra coziness and warmth for cold New England nights. Overall, very pleased with the comfort and the value. UPDATE May 2015: Still sleeping on this mattress a year and a half later with absolutely no complaints. Bought this thinking it would be a temporary fix and that I would have to replace it within a year with something more expensive. As long as I rotate it regularly (like you're supposed to do with mattresses....) it feels just as good as when I first got it. I sleep better on this mattress than on any one I can remember ever owning. Extremely pleased at how well it is holding up!

I don't know how I can add to already posted reviews . . . but this is my attempt
Chances are you are here because someone told you about a mattress that is unbelievably cheap on Amazon. Congratulations, you have come to the right place. And now you are looking at the amazing reviews, and the price, and doubting what everyone else is saying. If I could invite you over, I would, but it would become awkward very quickly, and the house is a mess! We were sleeping on a high-end memory foam mattress that we paid a small fortune for. After 5 years the mattress completely lost it's ability to keep its shape, so you would just "sink" in it. I had had enough, but did not want to pay another small fortune for a mattress that was garbage. So, I was online and heard about this King sized mattress for only $269 shipped!!! NO WAY!!! I told my husband and he laughed about it. Then we watched the video. And it was a COOL idea-- I mean you get a mattress air compressed into a little bag-- that is super cool! I think he wanted it just to watch how it all worked! I read the positive and negative reviews (even though the positive far outweigh the negatives). I was worried, but for $269 for a mattress I could sleep on-- well it was worth a shot. I am sitting on my mattress now, typing this review, and could not be more in love with it. We have been sleeping on it for over a week, and I will come back and update after 3 months, 6 months, and a year. Maybe 2 years! Heck maybe 5! The thing is, this mattress is REALLY nice. REALLY comfortable. I do not know about other people saying it is too short. Ours is NOT short at all. It is the exact size of a King sized mattress. It fits on our box spring perfectly, and the sheets fit on it perfectly as well. I know you are probably wondering how soft it is. We have a pillow top mattress pad on it, and I would say it is perfect, but firmness is so subjective. I think it is the perfect amount of firmness for a mattress, but I am not a fan of super soft beds either. After one week, I could not be more happy with the mattress-- and the bonus is my husband had a blast opening it up. Things you should know: ----This is a regular mattress. It is the WEIGHT of a regular mattress. You will need help to carry it. ----Give it about 12 hours to completely expand. ----Have 2 people to open it if you have the King-- it will go MUCH easier. ----Many people have asked, and you will NOT be able to just deflate it. When you open it, it will be a regular mattress *****1/ 2018 update--- over three years later and I would still give the mattress 5 stars. Still sleeping on it. Still comfortable!!!!

I can easily say I've been on the quest to find the ...
I have actually tried many mattresses on Amazon (I have moved several times in my life to New York, California, Pennsylvania, and Washington so I've needed to purchase new mattresses each time, and my (ex-)girlfriends have also ordered Amazon mattresses. I've also gifted memory foam mattresses to my family members). I can easily say I've been on the quest to find the perfect mattress. This one is by far the best one I've tried. If you prefer a stiff/firm supportive mattress (and have back pain), I really recommend this mattress!!! Here is my breakdown: Tuft & Needle (2/10): It feels like sleeping on the ground, firm but also lots of pressure points, surprisingly the worst I've tried even though I like their "message" as a company -- they really market the @#$! out of these. When it's warm, this mattress is really hot to sleep on, and you feel sweaty and uncomfortable. LUCID by LinenSpa (5/10): Soft, but too much sinking into -- I actually know a lot of people who really love these that prefer soft mattresses over firm mattresses. If you prefer soft mattresses, this is the one to get, even if it's a little spendier. Tempur Pedic Rhapsody (4/10): WAY overpriced, comparable to the 10x cheaper foam mattresses, way too soft, lots of pressure points. I actually did have a lot of back pain with this one, and I thought I could throw money at the problem by getting an esteemed name-brand mattress: Nope. Sleep Innovations Sure Temp (6/10): Still too soft, firmer and more comfortable than the others, but the temperature/humidity really affects the firmness of this one. Sometimes I liked how firm it was, and other times it was too soft. It also did get too hot to sleep on sometimes. Signature Sleep Contour: (9/10) Very good support, no pressure points, very firm. Signature Sleep Memory Foam: (5.5/10) A good balance between soft and firm, but lots of pressure points. It had that "slept on the couch last night" feeling of discomfort upon awakening. Costco Spring Mattress: (7/10) I've learned first hand from this mattress that in order to get a decent mattress, you need to have springs. No pressure points, but not as comfortable as foam. I've learned that mattress manufacturers are really hyping up foam mattresses because they are less expensive to manufacture and significantly cheaper to ship -- which means more profit per mattress sold for them. For a while even, the foam mattresses were sold at a premium under the moniker "memory foam," which makes it sound like you're getting something fancy, high-technology materials that are superior to springs (*ahem* Tempur Pedic -- foam is foam, you're getting the same stuff even if you pay 10x more -- it's like buying the base level Audi instead of the Volkswagen with the highest trim package, they are basically the same car, just different branding). This, of course, is just a deceptive name that allowed them to charge more for a cheaper product to manufacture. Some companies like T&N called them out on this by releasing foam mattresses that were priced more "honestly." Nonetheless, spring mattresses are actually superior for relieving pressure, as we know from freshman physics, springs absorb/dampen energy through so-called "restoring forces" -- remember Hooke's Law? Mattress companies HATE spring mattresses though and they will do everything in their power to hype up the "scientific processes" behind their totally superior "memory foam." Foam is good for a "soft" topper, but as a base to the whole mattress, you're just going to end up with a lot of pressure points because foam just isn't as "springy" as actual springs are (who would have guessed?). So yes, this really is as good as it gets, and the reason is that it is a hybrid coil/foam mattress (I guess you could retrofit a spring mattress into this by adding a foam topper, but you have to be careful which topper you choose because even the LUCID toppers are too soft and create problems as well as help).

Five star purchase
I'd just like to comment that I think some of the negative reviews miss the point. First or all some discuss being way too firm, and some way too soft, I would suggest that these may be defective products since the mattress I received is neither too firm or soft, and more than just I have laid on it. So I believe it's possible that there are defective units, although it's purely my speculation. More importantly some reviewers have stated that this isn't a five star mattress but rather people were merely impressed with it's delivery and expansion, which clouded their judgement. I disagree, and I disagree because when we review items on Amazon.com we are reviewing it based on all factors. Simply put it's not a five-star mattress, it's not meant to be, that's why the price tag isn't $1,000+ but what it is, is a very comfortable mattress, for very cheap, which comes delivered right to your house (free 2 day shipping with prime, which is just that much better). I write this review as I lay on it, the padding for the top is very soft, and does contour to the body, it's not too firm, it's just right. The only thing which really separates it from a traditional mattress is perhaps the edges are not very firm, meaning if you sit on the edge of the mattress it will compress almost fully, and also if you were to jump with your full weight on the mattress it will compress more than a typical mattress, but in reality neither of these should be issues in the real world. I've used traditional spring mattresses, memory foam, and now this, and this is probably my favorite so far, and when the price and convenience is factored in, it's a no brainer. The only thing I cannot comment on is longevity, but I will update this review down the road commenting on whether it lasted 6+ months. The bottom line is, to everyone else this will be a comfortable quality mattress, it's not gimmicky, it's not some cheap temporary solution like an inflatable, it's a legitimate mattress and before purchasing my issue was believing something this affordable, and something which could be compressed into a duffle bag could be a "real" mattress, well as I lay on it now (and I've had it for a couple weeks), I can say it is a real, comfortable, quality mattress. I wouldn't let the negative reviews scare you from purchasing, if this one caught your eye you're probably on a budget, so don't hesitate just buy it, you wont regret the decision. If you're looking for a mattress comparable to a $1,000+ pillow top, or something, this may not be the "five-star" mattress for you, but for us regular people, it's just great. EDIT: 3 Years later, I still use and enjoy this mattress. I don't disagree with anything I've said, and I've had others buy this mattress who were in need of a cheap, good nights sleep.

Love My "Poppin' Fresh" Mattress
I started researching mattresses online after making 1 visit to a mattress store. I desperately needed to replace an eleven year old mattress that had become an uncomfortable pillow-topped trench. As many of you have experienced, buying a new mattress is much like buying a new car. The salesman steers you to the most expensive product first while extolling its virtues in an attempt to dazzle you and distract you from a price tag that is much higher than what you had budgeted. And really, what are you going to learn from lying on a mattress for 5 minutes in a store? Other than that it can be an odd and surreal experience. My 1 store visit was so off-putting and unsettling that I decided I would risk an online purchase if only to avoid any more retail outlet aggravation. After much thought, I ordered the queen sized Contour 8. It was delivered in a timely manner to my front door in the biggest duffel bag I have ever seen. I was able to drag it into my living room where it sat for 2 weeks until my neighbor could help me get it upstairs. Keep in mind that the mattress does weigh at least 65 pounds. Once we got it into the bedroom and on top of my original box springs, unpacking it was everything that all the other reviewers have said - easy and amazing. It transformed into a luxurious mattress that seemed much more expensive than the price I paid. My sheets - which never fit on the previous deep pillow-top mattress - now fit properly. There was absolutely no odor of any kind after unpacking. But of course, the most important thing is that I sleep so deeply now that I actually look forward to going to bed! I fall asleep quickly and easily. Even if I wake up in the night, I am back to sleep in minutes. I was initially concerned that the mattress is much firmer than what I had and I may still buy a foam topper for it, but I have not had any aches or pains associated with sleeping on the Contour 8. As a person who is physically active (a runner) and who has a job as a facilitator/trainer, it's important that I sleep well so I can perform at my best. I have told many people about this amazing bed. And yes, when I tell them that I ordered it online, most people react with total skepticism. But after I have sung the praises of the Contour 8, many of them have written down the name and agreed that they need such a bed for a guest room, vacation home, etc. I would purchase this mattress again but for now, I am looking forward to several years of quality sleep and pleasant dreams! P.S. 02/09/14 I want to add some additional thoughts on this mattress. 1. This mattress is shorter than stated in the manufacturer's notes. It is actually 78 inches long, not 80 inches. However, it is the exact same dimensions as my box springs, so this is not a concern for me. Plus, I am using it on a bed frame that has a footboard and the mattress is fine for that. 2. I have not had a problem with heat being retained on this mattress as I did with my previous pillow top mattress. This is a huge relief! I sleep very comfortably! 3. My sleep is very deep on this mattress. So deep, in fact, that I often don't want to get out of bed when my alarm goes off! My cat finds this very annoying. I hope you find this information helpful.

Amazing!
I have had this item since December 10th of 2015 we were just remarking upon how amazing it is and now it is the middle the end of September of 2026 and it's still an awesome mattress. Worth moving it around to different residences over the years several times ๐

Sleeps HOT. Not very comfortable. Only 72" long after waiting 2wks for full expansion.
If you have problems with hot mattresses... keep looking. This one sleeps surprisingly HOT for a coil mattress. I didn't find the coils particularly comfortable either. Also has quality control issues. Standard twin size dimensions are 38" x 75". Waited 2 wks for this to fully expand (48hrs recommended), mattress still only 72" long. Even standing it on end and giving it a good shake to help it expand didn't help. Still only 72". Out of the box it was just over 70". Thankfully, amazon made the return painless. Fwiw, if a hot short mattress isn't an issue for you, seams, construction, and fabric seemed good for $203.
