When I put in multiple sheets (all same size), the scanner runs them all through at once. Why won't it scan one sheet at a time?

There is a small set of rollers inside the scanner which is responsible to separate the pages. Open the scanner door, and inspect the roller residing on the top and inside of the door. You may have to clean or replace this roller set.

does it come with the dvd program paperstream pro

No, used/refurbished units do not come with full version of the Paperstream software. This software is only available in the New units and it is limited to the units that are naked as “premium” or “bundled” units.

is this a duplex scanner?

It is. It scans both sides if there’s writing on both sides. It also automatically rotates as it scans, so you can read the landscape pages normally.
