Cult classic
I have religiously used this product for years just sadly it becomes hard to find from time to time. 10/10 every time but I must mentioned this is just MAINTENANCE. This was not over dark brown hair this was bleached months ago and has been orange and I use it to keep it orange. I don’t recommend using this product on dark hair

Not bad, not excellent. More red than orange.
I find the color is significantly more red than it is orange.I'm very surprised with how easy this was to wash out with the addition of purple shampoo and Head and Shoulders.

Protip: Do the test first
I've tried three colors-- Burgundy, Maroon, and Tangerine-- with only the latter purchased on Amazon. My hair is a dirty blonde color closer to my face, fading to a tiny bit darker color in the back, and has a few grey strands in front. I don't bleach first because I just wanted a hint of color, and that's what I get-- my hair is porous and takes the color pretty well. There's not a lot of staining on clothes and sheets, but I also tend to just let water go through it until it runs clear after the first 'treatment' so maybe that helps? The Maroon fades the slowest, to a washed out mauve, and is my least fave. Gave the first tube away after using about half because I was working at a place that gave me the side eye for having 'weird hair'. During the pandemic I said eff it and tried again. The Burgundy is really lovely and rich. Just applied the Tangerine for the first time and oh wow. Really like how it looks-- will probably reapply the maroon to the ends to get a sunset effect.Title is 'do the test first' because I've never done the strand test or allergy test before, and I don't dye my whole head because I like the look of just the ends being colored, but after this last round with the Tangerine I can totally see why they tell you to do it. Some of the dye spilled out of my gloved hands and I scooped it up with the brush and applied it that way-- I hate wasting things and it was about a Tbsp of dye. I got a bit of it on my ear and wiped it off. It stung a little but it passed. My scalp, the spot on my neck where hair brushed by, and a patch on my throat, all burn. Like a lot. Literally sitting here typing this with an ice pack balanced on my head-- my posture has never been better. *lol* Might post a picture later if Amazon lets you add photos to a review after posting. So yeah. If you're thinking of doing your whole head, DO. THE TEST. FIRST.ETA: Gave it 4 stars because the gloves are utter crap-- they actually make the dying process harder and messier because they're so huge and floppy. I realize some folks can have a latex allergy, and for all I know the dye might interact poorly with latex so there's probably not another viable option, but the gloves really are the worst.UPDATE (1/20/22): I've shampooed my hair more than a few times since I first posted and there is STILL red in the ends of my hair. Not even kidding about this.

Perfect for keeping ginger/copper hair vibrant!
I love this stuff. I have been coloring my hair with "unnatural" colors for over 20 years now. I started with Manic Panic at 13 and now in my 30's I have yet to go back to my natural color. I am also a former hairdresser/colorist so I have a LOT of experience with pretty much every brand of these semi-permanent colors. THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL, RIDE OR DIE, BAE of the semi-perms for me.I decided a few years back to try the Feria Power Copper (C74). I love it but I have hair down to my butt and in order to keep it healthy, I only ever color my roots with the Feria. I then mix a bit of an orange or red/orange semi permanent color in with my conditioner and put that all over. It always turns out perfect. I am a fan of the Sparks (though I hate the smell!) and Special Effects (WAY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET!) but I have found that the L'Oreal Tangerine is the BEST color and longest lasting. Seriously, this stuff is good. My hair practically glows.Full disclosure, I only wash my hair once, maybe twice a week. Because of this, this color lasts a ridiculously long time. It starts out a gorgeous deep red/orange and then fades orange to yellow/orange. It fades evenly as well. I usually only have to reapply this every 6-8 weeks. Why only 4 stars then? Well unfortunately, this does stain your hands and fingernails***. Most do because that's what a semi-permanent color is essentially-a stain for your hair. Since fingernails are made of the same keratin your hair is, it's nearly impossible to find a semi-permanent color that does not stain. L'Oreal includes an application brush and gloves so either use the gloves or just deal with the staining. For me, since I mix it in with my conditioner, the staining is minimal and usually washes away by the next day. The only brand I have not had stain is the Sparks brand. I really like their Orange Crush color, though it is a true orange (not red-orange like the L'Oreal Tangerine) so it fades quicker for me. It also smells like AXE and it seems to linger FOREVER! Gross LOL. But the L'Oreal smells really nice.***Although this stains my skin/fingernails, I have not had ANY issue with this staining clothing, bedding, my tub, bathroom tile/countertops, etc. This was a MASSIVE issue for me with other semi-permanent colors. I stopped wearing white for years because of it. But now I am able to wear white even on hot sweaty days! Yay!Second reason for the 4 stars is not a reflection of L'Oreal or the product itself. I have this on a monthly subscribe and save however, I am lucky if I receive it every month. It is almost always delayed, but often it is cancelled. I once went about 5 months straight with each order being cancelled. The first time, fair enough, it did say it was temporarily out of stock. The rest of the cancellations, the product was shown to be in stock. What gives Amazon? Why offer a service if you don't actually provide it? I freaking love Amazon, but this has been super frustrating.Overall I highly recommend, though you might want to skip the subscribe and save option if you are definitely going to need it delivered every month. Happy coloring!
