First Alert Fire Extinguisher, Standard Home Use

I got this set of four First Alert fire extinguishers on a Black Friday sale. At the time, we only had one working fire extinguisher for our 3,500 sq. ft. house, and that just didn't make me feel safe at all, considering we have a kitchen, fireplace, and attached garage, which are the three places fires are prone to start. All four extinguishers came with brackets to hang them. The first one went up on the 2nd floor of the house, where the bedrooms are located, on the inside door of the linen closet. The second one went inside the garage and got mounted on the wall. The third one went into the "bonus room" above the garage, and the last one went into our pick up truck. They are very easy to use, and there is an instructional video you can watch if you haven't ever used one. They are simple to remove from the brackets and not heavy at all. You can also get these recharged after you have used them from your local charging station. These were a great deal and I am so very glad I got them when I did.

Good units, good life span

Never in my life have I needed a fire extinguisher in my life but a few weeks ago literally less than 2 weeks I ordered these. I installed 2 inside 1 garage and one in my truck. Never needed one just thought it was a good idea and a good price. Microwave exploded for no reason. No one even in the kitchen. I unplugged it and could see flames inside the microwave. Could only see it thru this little crack where the door latches. What was I gonna do spray it with water on electrical fire. Even unplugged that’s a bad idea. Flour salt etc how do I get it in that hole and back to where the flames are at. Could have easily spread to the cabinets and then the house. Grabbed this extinguisher from the wash room and 2 seconds later the fire was out. And it had so much more to go. Barely took anything. Came out with great force. Perfect for any small fire Was very relieved to have these I’ll never not have one in the house ever again. Easy install. Does not come with screws but almost any screw will hold it. If u don’t have any screws buy a simple drywall kit for hanging pictures. That will work fine.

I have these in case of a fire and have never needed them fortunately. I bought these to replace the same type ones I purchased 6 years ago. Although the "old" ones are fully charged, I felt better having new ones. I don't want to find the old ones don't work when I need them. Buying 4 at one time was more economical too.

so tough to give a review till you use them right ??? so bought it to thusly "be prepared" - now have on on every floor of the house - plus on for the garage - easily mounts to the wall and snaps in. remember having them also means you need to "practice / drill" using them - if family doesnt know - remember where they are at - they wont be able to use them when needed. in general appear to be good quality and at decent price - fingers crossed i wont need them - but hopefully they will do the job should that day arise....

Funny how long i pondered before i eventually bought fire extinguishers for my car and home... procrastinators folly! What's even dumber of me to think about... more often than not, while surfing youtube i come across educational vids that depict auto accidents with fires and home fires that, "if only they (or sombody had) a fire extiguisher" (i would mutter under my breath). I mean, some of the intense fires i've watched there and reasons the fire started and continue gathering momentum from adjacent fuel sources, are simply out of reasonableness for this size extinguisher BUT, if they start reasonably small and you get there in time, that would be a good day. Some of the videos i've watched for house fires (both interiors and exteriors) the owners had ZERO fire extinguishers and the description of how they started, clearly, if they even had one of these small ones, they could have ended it with some scorching and smoke damage and not a life changing event. Same for the car vids... i saw one where the fire started small at one side of the engine under the hood. Noone had an extinguisher. They were trying to throw gravel and dirt on it. Eventually the heat worked its way through the cowl into the interior and ignited the dash. By the time the fire department arrived it was fully engulfed. Another car vid, almost identicle scenario as above... seemed like about a dozen or more fellow motorists stopped and each one of them got a fire extiguisher out of their cars, popped the hood a crack and kept flooding the engine compartment and underneath with extiguishers... fire was completely out in about 2 minutes. I searched and it must have been "Belgian or some other country where it's mandated (among other things) because there were a lot of people in one place holding extinguishers, several didn't even get a chance to fire theres off. So it's wierd, knowing all this for years now, i'm just now staging extinguishers in important places... HA!
