Navien30004684A Flame Rod Assembly (Propane)

My Navien is about 20 years old so the replacement was not as easy in as the newer models. I had to remove the fan in the upper left side to have access the part. Took about a half hour total but it fixed the problem I was having of frequent shut offs.

Our water heater is about 12 years old, and was starting to act up. It would randomly shut down and wouldn't produce any hot water until we power cycled it. I changed this part out, and it works like new again. It was a pretty easy part to replace, and doing it myself saved several hundred dollars.

Last time I called my installer and watched him replace this piece and then handed me a bill for $179. Got me once, but not twice. This was a pretty easy job to replace, took about a half hour. I found it a little difficult to get the rod in due to the way it is bent. But with a little finagling, I got the job accomplished and I have not had any error codes or ignition failures. Don't think I would buy another Navien - too much maintenance with this rod and flushing the unit annually.
