Aircraft Receiver Kit - Ramsey AR1C

Gets FM radio just fine. Cannot adjust the coils to get aviation radio no matter what I do.This kit DOES NOT come with earphone, antenna and some of the instructions are unclear as to which part is in the kit. The instructions have something like (use this part if looks like this or that part if looks like that).I have spent over 10 hours attempting to get reception of aircraft frequency but all I get is FM radio... really expensive fm radio.

Nice little Kit. missing a couple of components (inductors). Called Ramsey direct and they mailed them the same day with no complaint. Haven't done a kit in years so this was a great way to get back into it now that I am retired.

The kit is complete and self contained:- The kit contains everything including the cabinet, coils and dificult to get Ic's. The kit contains an excellent manual which has step by step instrucions on how to assemble the kit and how to identify the components. even a person with little or no knowledge od electronics can assemble the kit. The kit does not require too many adjustments and alignments. Only one oscillator coil and an IFT needs adjustments. a somlpe half metre long wire can be used as an antenna if one lives close to an airport, Better results are obtained with a telescopic antenna or external dipole antenna.

All I get is a howl. Something must be oscillating I believe. No bad joints and no bridges. Can't figure it out but it makes me a bit sad. Made one years ago and it worked fine. Will probably dismantle for components especially the ICs. Pretty expensive for a few ICs etc.

A transistor part was missing. Will have to go to Radio Shack to find the missing part. So, hopefully, when I find a transistor it weill work properly.
