READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
Others have complained about the small size and poor construction that allows these to quickly fall apart. Mine did after hanging on my keychain just a few days. In fact, other than when I received it, I had never even used it. But I knew I would need it sooner or later, if only to read the fine print on a medicine bottle label.I returned what was left of the first one in exchange for a replacement.I find the size works fine and the higher than usual magnification is a plus, once I learned what I want to see must be a bit further away than with a standard, 4X loupe. I have it on my keychain, and check the screws regularly to be sure this one doesn't fall apart. I put a drop of blue Locktight on each of the two tiny screws that hold it together.BE WARNED that unless you are willing and have the skill and the tiny phillips screwdriver required, do not plan on using this on a keychain or as a portable. If it is going to live in a drawer, fine, but still check that a screw isn't about to fall out.

Quality Loupe
This 10x loupe does exactly what it is supposed to. Clear optics, folds nicely into its metal holder and comes with a small plastic case (it can be safely stored either in the case or without it). Using it I was able to clearly see all details, markings, that I wanted to view on jewelry and coins.

Satisfactory
I've never used one of these before, so I'm new to this. It's not large like magnifying glasses that I've always used in the past.I believe it works how it is supposed to. I like that it appears to not distort color, I was worried it would make things darker, or alter colors but it appears to not do that, so that's a plus.I'd recommend this to first time buyers.I was skeptical, about which one to buy, I browsed a lot. I'm happy I settled with this one. It was in my price range and it seems to work fine. Not sure how more expensive ones work, but this does the job for me. I'd have to use a more expensive one for comparison.

A great hand lens for geology!...unless it breaks
If I had given this review two week ago, I would have had a much different review. This is a very decent hand lens for looking at hand samples at rock outcrops and in labs, magnifying up to 10x as the label indicates. After using it fine for about seven or eight months, the screws spontaneously popped out and left me with just the lens, not the protective outer covering. The lens itself is still fine, but I honestly expected the hand lens to be a bit sturdier than it was. Also, as far as a built-in light goes...pretty sure there isn't one, so I didn't rate that. That being said, I would definitely recommend this for college students who need it for some of their Geology courses. This is very cheap, so losing or breaking it won't be a burden on your wallet. Other than that, I've liked this product a lot!

Good image quality
Good image quality for a 10 loop magnifier. The magnification of a magnifier is the ratio of size the object appears at a distance of 10 inches (the angle subtended by the object) to the size it appears with the magnifier held close to the eye. Magnifiers give the best magnification, image quality, widest field of view, and minimum distortion when held close to the eye. They seem to give more magnification when held farther from the eye, but that is an illusion because then the magnifier itself appears smaller when you move it away from the eye and the image then fills more the the magnifier.

A wonderful magnifying lens
This is another item I bought for my wife who has trouble reading the microscopic print on things -- especially in grocery stores. It fits handily in her purse and she's found numerous uses for it in the short time she's had it. Very handy.
