Great price/reliability value
I’ve had this Frigidaire EFIC121SS countertop ice maker for close to a year now, and it has impressed me enough that I’m seriously considering buying a second one just to keep on hand. That probably sounds excessive, but this is the third countertop ice maker I’ve owned, and the first two (different brands/models) both started breaking down within a month. Countertop ice makers are notorious for early failures — small compressors running hot, constant freeze/thaw cycling, and finicky sensors — so reliability is the number one issue in this category. Consumer Reports gives this model line a relatively low score, and I was surprised by that until I learned that their scoring doesn’t include reliability at all. That’s more of a black mark against CR than against the machine, though I understand they can’t realistically run long term reliability tests on every small appliance. Still, for something like a countertop ice maker — where reliability matters far more than noise, appearance, or even capacity — leaving it out really distorts the picture. And for what it’s worth, noise, appearance, and capacity are all perfectly acceptable here. I’ll also admit I’ve abused this machine a bit. I sometimes forget and leave it running all night — maybe once a week. Over the past year, that’s caused a gradual decrease in sustained production: the bullet “thimbles” get smaller faster when it’s been running nonstop. But despite that, it has never failed to produce ice. I put ice in all my drinks except coffee (that includes milk and beer) so having ice is really important. Thinking I might want a backup ready to go, I checked the price — I was around ready to pay $120. I was pleasantly surprised to find it’s actually much less. Meanwhile, the older EFIC117 model often sells for around $120 at the high end, even though in my experience the EFIC121SS is the better built and more reliable version. At typical Amazon pricing, the 121 can be up to 50% less than the 117, which makes the value even better. If you’re looking for a countertop ice maker that lasts, this is the first one I’ve owned that didn’t feel disposable. Even after months of heavy use and the occasional all night run, it will still produce. Full disclosure... to increase readability, AI was employed it the writing of this review; however, I supplied the core concept for this review, and it underwent 5 revisions for 100% accuracy. Lastly, if you get one and you find that it is producing too much ice, a simple hack is to turn the scoop face down in the bin; this causes the machine to think it is producing more ice than it actually is producing.

Frigidaire EFIC123-SS Ice Maker! A must have ice maker!
I can’t say enough good things about the Frigidaire EFIC123-SS Ice Maker! My daughters absolutely love eating ice, and this machine has been a game-changer in our household. Here’s why: ✅ Compact & Stylish Design One of the first things I noticed was how sleek and modern this ice maker looks. The stainless steel finish gives it a premium feel, and it fits perfectly on our countertop without taking up too much space (dimensions: 12.3”D x 8.7”W x 12.5”H). 🧊 Fast & Efficient Ice Production This ice maker is FAST! It churns out bullet-shaped ice cubes in less than 6 minutes, which is great when we need ice on demand. It can produce up to 26 lbs of ice per day, so we never run out—even when hosting guests. 🤫 Super Quiet Operation I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet this unit is. Unlike noisy refrigerators or traditional ice makers, this one runs silently in the background. The cooling function is efficient without any annoying humming sounds. 🔄 Customizable Ice Sizes I love that we can choose between two different ice cube sizes. The smaller size is perfect for my daughters (who love to chew on ice), while the larger size works great for chilling drinks. 🔍 Convenient See-Through Window One of the best features is the transparent viewing window. It’s fun watching the ice being made, and it helps us know exactly when the bin is full without having to open the lid. 🔌 Easy to Use & Maintain Setting it up was a breeze—just plug it in, add water, and press start! It doesn’t require a water hookup, making it easy to move around. The self-cleaning function is a great bonus, keeping it fresh with minimal effort. ⭐ Final Thoughts This ice maker exceeded my expectations! It’s compact, efficient, and stylish, making it a perfect addition to any kitchen, office, or even RV. If you love fresh ice on demand and want a hassle-free solution, this is the one to get. 💯 Highly recommend!

Love my Ice Maker!
This has paid for itself many times over. The little middle of the cube is hallow which I was surprised but I found out I like it like that. Refills very fast so I always have ice. It's a bit noisy but doesn't bother me.

Good ice machine. Keep it clean. Keep it cold.
I'm surprised the model I purchased is no longer available becuase I'm really pleased with it. Look, the thing is you have to keep it clean. And it isn't going to do it by itself. I don't care what they say about "self cleaning." That's just a preset that it runs with the water. I go in with Q-tips and white vinger between deep cleaning. You still have to drain it and put a cleanser in it and run it through the cleaning cycles and rinse it (that's the deep cleaning). I do it about every four months. it depends on your water. As I said, I've been happy with my machine and it gets used a lot. I do not turn it off. Ever. I made that mistake with another ice machine in the past and that's when it grew mold. Keep the machine cold. Even when we go on vaca I leave water in it and I leave it on to prevent mold. I just toss the ice and make a fresh batch when we get home. I see people saying they turn it off at night or whatever. Thats why it gets moldy.

Great alternative for refrigerator/freezers without automatic ice machines
I recently downsized and moved into a house with a relatively small refrigerator/freezer without an automatic ice machine. There's also not a cold water line behind the refrigerator. I'll admit that plumbing is not my forte so even if I had a water line nearby, I still would need assistance installing an automatic ice machine in my freezer. I was also concerned about how much space an ice maker would take up in my freezer. I asked my brother-in-law for advice and he informed me that they make affordable counter-top automatic ice makers that need to be manually filled as needed. Fortunately, I have a good amount of counter space so I invested in a Frigidaire counter top ice maker. It works great and I don't mind using a pitcher to periodically fill the tank on the ice maker. It's also portable so I can relocate it to a different location as long as there's a receptacle nearby. So now I have the convenience of an automatic ice maker which was the one luxury that didn't come with the house. I'm also pretty certain that there's not enough space for a refrigerator with a door mounted ice maker/dispenser. I'm writing a review of this product for people like me that didn't know counter top ice makers were available and do an adequate job as long as the user doesn't mind manually filling it. Follow-up review. This unit was easy enough to install and follow the instructions. I noticed the morning after having a container of nice sized ice cubes that all the cubes melted. I'm a rather impatient person and I didn't bother to see if there were troubleshooting instructions for this model. As far as I was concerned, the unit should have remained cold enough to keep the cubes usable as needed. I like the idea of having a counter top ice maker that plugs in and only needs to be manually fed with cold water as needed. I also bought this unit since I have had good success with Frigidaire equipment in the past. I expected this unit to be plug and play. My previous house refrigerator/freezer had a cold water line at the back and of course a receptacle. All I needed to do was make the two connections and shortly thereafter I had an automatic door ice maker/cold water dispenser. I don't even use a lot of ice so I'm not sure what compelled me to buy a counter-top automatic ice maker. Regardless, I can't recommend this model as the ice cubes melted pretty much as soon as I had a full container of ice cubes. BTW, there isn't a door automatic ice maker on the refrigerator in my new house nor is there a cold water line behind the refrigerator made for connecting to some sort of automatic ice maker. Plumbing is not my forte but I wasn't against the idea of a portable counter top unit. Perhaps you will purchase this unit and have better success. My only recommendation is to read the instructions which I never bothered to do.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR - BUY A BETTER QUALITY ICE MAKER!
Despite following all instructions for use and maintenance, I have encountered several persistent issues that have rendered the ice maker unusable. The primary problem is that the ice produced consistently melts, even when stored in the unit's ice basket. This has resulted in a significant waste of water and energy, as the ice maker is constantly cycling to replenish the melted ice. ****UPDATE**** I have been trying to get in touch with Curtis International, to get a refund as I was outside of the return window with Amazon. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE FOR 2 MONTHS!! I couldn't understand customer service due to a language barrier - so I decided to email them. I have sent 3 emails. I have not received a reply to any of them. Currently going through the Canadian Better Business Bureau to hopefully resolve. Furthermore, despite my diligent efforts to clean the unit regularly, I have noticed a recurring mold issue on the interior surfaces. This is particularly concerning as I have exclusively used filtered water in the ice maker, as per the manufacturer's recommendations. The presence of mold raises serious health and hygiene concerns, making the ice produced unsafe for consumption. I have attempted to troubleshoot these issues by consulting the user manual and online resources but to no avail. I am incredibly disappointed with the performance and quality of this product, especially considering the Frigidaire brand's reputation for reliability. **** UPDATE 2**** I ended up having to contact the Better Business Bureau because the company wouldn't respond. So we are now going on 3 months and still no resolution.

It’s a Hit
Ordered this for an ice chewing fanatic and it has been a hit. The cubes are a bit smaller than I thought they would be but they work just fine.

À avoir!
À avoir dans sa cuisine! Ne fait pas de bruit, prends peu d’espace et la grosseur des glaçons est parfaite. Emplir les gourdes pour l’école, le travail ou le sport garde l’eau froide. Un excellent achat.

Fantastic Appliance
This was great purchase. It takes up about as much counter space as a standing mixer so not too bad. What I'm impressed about the most is how quickly you start getting ice. Within 7 minutes we had 10 cubes done. The water reservoir is larger than it looks so less refills of water for making ice. If I had one thing to complain about it would be the drain plug. The placement of the drain plug, and how tight an area it is makes it a pain to unplug the drain after each use, especially if you have big fingers as I do. I do not reccomend leaving water sitting in their if your not making ice, and don't tip it to pour out water as it messes with the freon in he unit. I found you can push the drain plug out from in the reservoir with a narrow blunt object.
