Oral-B iO Series 9 Electric Toothbrush With 6 Brush Heads, Black Onyx

If there was a 2 1/2 star rating that's what I would give this toothbrush. This brush gives a 5-star cleaning, no question about it, almost like a dentist clean feeling. Excellent. I'm knocking off stars for the following, all of which Oral B must have known about during product development and testing but did nothing to rectify: 1. The app, which is a major marketing point for this brush, is inaccurate, shows you brushing sections where you haven't even started brushing yet and always exceeds the dentist recommended 2 minute brushing. Invariably total brushing time is always over 3 minutes (if you follow the app). This means extra wear and tear on the teeth and shorter lifespan of the expensive brush heads. Several app updates have done nothing to correct this. 2. Speaking of brush heads, they leak. No matter which angle you hold the toothbrush the holes in them leak a slobberish mixture of toothpaste and saliva all over the handle and wash basin. If you use a dark toothpaste you will see exactly how widespread the mess is. I've never had such a messy toothbrush. Don't even contemplate walking away from the wash basin for anything. 3. If Philips can provide toothbrush head covers why can't Oral B for such an expensive toothbrush. For an expensive and cutting edge toothbrush I expected a more finished product from Oral B. The cleaning is fantastic, nothing even comes close to the clean teeth feel of this product. However I have the impression Oral B was on a schedule and had to release it all the while knowing it was an unfinished package. 2.5 stars considering this is a $300 toothbrush.

Toothpaste goes everywhere when using this thing. Unlike my Sonicare, even when closing my mouth all the way around the Oral-B brush head, it just streams continuously down the handle and my hand. Seems like the culprit is the drain hole on the brush head — who thought this was a good idea?? What a mess. If this has any performance advantages over the Sonicare, this design “feature” completely negates it. Change the brush heads, and maybe I will change my mind. This is going back into the drawer under the sink; if it weren’t so expensive, it’d just go into the trash.

This toothbrush is the ultimate. The brushing and information you get with this toothbrush is amazing. Very comfortable and thorough. You don’t have that annoying vibration feel from this toothbrush as in other battery powered toothbrushes.
