At this price I was expecting a bit nicer hat where the crown/top was a bit stiffer and shaped. It's soft material which is great for stuffing the hat in small places for storage but because of this the top portion does not hold its shape. Also, what is the deal with the small piece of flat leather that is supposed to hold the chin straps snugly under your chin. This piece does not work at all holding the hat snug to your head in high winds and becomes loose immediately. I'll use this hat as is but will not buy again in the future.

I have a lot of wide brimmed hats and this one is my favorite. I can throw it in a backpack or suitcase and it keeps it shape. Also it stands up to rain and sun really well over a few years. This is my second time purchasing this hat only because I lost my first one in a bet. But I'm glad someone else gets to use it now. As of today (Sunday 10/29/17) I have worn the hat every day for the past week. It will be a great fall/winter hat as I believe it will be too hot next summer. The hat fits well if not a bit on the snug side. I keep a close cropped hair cut and if any longer it would be too tight. So far I really like the hat and it's styling. First thing I did was remove the leather chin strap it was pretty useless.

A comfortable water proof hat for working outside.

My husband loves his new hat but it was not as oiled as the old one from this same manufacturer. He pretty much had worn the old one out! Thank you Amazon!!

This is the 3rd Billings I have owned and am a avid adventurer and explorer.It keeps me warm and dry........the price is great.The first 2 were destroyed but not the fault of the hat.You can super waterproof them with some Filson Jacket Creme.For About $30 there is no better hat available.
