I wish that I started with this brush!
The right brush matters when you're beginning and the Princeton Neptune blew me out of the water. I wasn't so sure at first because of how soft the bristles are, but what do I know, all of my paint brushes are sub mediocre compared to this brush. I have practiced enough to test it on my Academy 100% cotton watercolor paper and feel like I'm finally making progress in my watercolor journey. The way the brush glides nicely over the paper and the brush holds a good amount of water. The rest of the Neptune series brushes are on my wishlist!

Great watercolour brushes
I like princeton brushes so went ahead and ordered a few of these for watercolour painting since I had read that they can hold a decent amount of water /paint. I have to be honest, at first I didn't like these. There wasn't a whole lot of "snap" to these and if you pressed all the water out the bristles become "stiff", in that they don't return to a centered position when you finish brushing across the page. So it took me a while to get used to how these felt. So now that I've used them for a month or so, I love them and they have become some of my favorite brushes. They do hold a TON of water, and that took some getting used to so I didn't saturate my paper. They are very soft and pliable, they clean up easily and always return to a good shape afterwards. I'm looking forward to ordering more of this particular style to complete my set and hope others enjoy them as much as I do.

Holds a nice amount of water and is soft
This is one of my favorite brushes. It holds a lot of water and keeps a nice point for doing fine work and the belly can do nice thick areas. I am a total beginner to watercolor painting so can't speak if this is for someone more experienced.

Nice
This brush came quickly and was packaged safely. It hold a ton of water and I am still getting used to that but I am really enjoying experimenting with it. I have not had problems with it losing bristles.n it hold a lot of paint and it keeps its shape after cleaning. I just shape the point and it holds. Great brush.

Losing the point
Great brush. Holds a lot of water. Only thing is that the Neptune rounds seem to loose their point rather quickly. I’ve heard the Neptune quills do not have this issue. My Princeton aqua elite round is holding a point much better.

Problem with shedding
**UPDATE: I got in touch with Princeton directly, and they responded quickly that the shedding I initially reported below should not happen, and they sent me a replacement that arrived within two days. Excellent customer service and response time, and I'm happy to report that the replacement brush has had no shedding whatsoever! Thanks, Princeton - found my new favorite watercolor brush! Initial review: I wanted to love this brush, especially after reading reviews about it being an excellent water-holder particularly for large washes. It certainly does do that well - it's a thirsty brush! However, fresh out of the package and ongoing, it continues to shed horribly. Will consider returning because for the price and otherwise good quality, that should not be happening.
