Great sound, good amp, pretty lights, but know what you are getting
Ok, here's the deal. I agonized about purchasing this, as it had a high price tag ($250+), and all I really needed was an amp for my guitar. However, the bluetooth mp3 and fm radio was attractive to me, as I could listen to my music player when I wasn't playing my guitar. I was not going to buy it for $250 because of low reviews and virtually no support or existence of the product on the web. But I ran into this damaged box, but new item for $70, and I went for it. For this price, I was extremely happy. The sound was great, the disco ball flashes a pattern that matches the music, and the star lights in the speaker pulse to the drums. This was way better than the $100 similar item offerings that just randomly flashed lights without syncing to the music. The item is large for an amp (like 4 ft), but very light and has handles, but no wheels or pull gear. I was generally very happy with the unit, for the price that I paid. I would not have beenhappy had I paid the $250+, though. The bluetooth was a tad buggy, and the instructions didn't match up. You basically have to connect every time you want to use the device; it goes into some weird sleep mode. The instructions were terrible; I'm going to have to do some work to figure out how everything works. For now, it works well enough, but is clunky getting going. Don't think you are going to hookup the bluetooth once and then whip out your phone from then on and easily play music when you want. This just isn't happening. You are going to have to sync/turn off the unit, connect, and otherwise mess with it. As long as you keep playing music, though, it doesn't seem to have a problem. For the AM/FM receiver promised with this unit, forget it. It does not exist. This is a result of broken English by the manufacturer. What they say is, "with FM/SD/USB Reader Built-In" , but what they MEAN is, "with a place to plug in your FM receiver". So yes, there is a standard RCA input red/white audio. That's where you plug in your FM radio (or whatever input device you want); THE FM RADIO DOES NOT EXIST IN THE UNIT ITSELF. So don't buy this, thinking there is a radio receiver in the unit. Also, it would be a good plan to have a couple of nice speakers to plug into the output for this item. There is a place where you push in stripped wires for the additional speaker output, all old school style. As near as I can tell, there is no web site for this, or support pdf or operators manual other than the provided one printed sheet copy that is enclosed in the box. I wish there were better instructions. I guess I get the thrill of messing with it and discovering things myself! Be aware thatthis is not an easy, intuitive item that works like a dream. You're going to have to mess with it when you use it.Overall, I rated this a 4 out of 5, as I got it for a great price, the sound was great, and I am easily entertained by flashing lights. So are my kids, sadly. We are enjoying this item quite a bit, but this may change when daddy whips out his Randy Marsh ensemble to play his electric guitar...
