Grand Bazar Romania (Romanian Edition)

I had the great pleasure of meeting the author many years ago and the fact that he chose Romania as his country of residence is something I still can't grasp. Why? For all the reasons he is masterfully illustrating in his book. Over the years he really managed to become one of "us" by fully embracing the Romanian culture with all its positives and plentiful negatives. He candidly walks the reader through all his travels around the country, introduces him/her to his friends and highlights some of the flaws of the country and its inhabitants. This ranges from rude drivers over careless dog walkers all the way to cruel children torturing animals for fun, the intricately subpar medical system and the power of money, particularly its impact on the "good" citizen. A book that will take the reader deep into the heart of a country that despite all the negatives, is still truly wonderful with a magnificent landscape and rich history. One that must be visited and should not be missed. Just like this wonderful book he wrote. A warm welcome is guaranteed.The book is available for purchase in both, English and Romanian language and I must add, the quality of the translation (Romanian) is amazing. Vlad A. Arghir truly delivered a masterpiece.

The book took me back to my childhood Romania seen through the eyes of a very observant Enlgishman who writes with a very special sense of humor.

Interesting book about Romania in Romanian so good if you know or are learning the language. I have the English version too which is easier for me!!
